    Hi,

For the second time since I got it, I took my Taco to a 4x4 ride. It was a road up to a mountain 4,200 mts over sea level. Road was not that bad, yet in some sections, very steep and irregular. Switched to 4Hi, and everything smooth. I used to have a Jeep Grand Cherokee 2002 (WJ), so I tend to compare. With Taco, it feels like a light weight truck, not that much effort on the motor (very smooth), almost no tire spinning. Suspension, yet, a bit more bumpy than the WJ which is softer, but the Taco seems more solid, more “in one piece”; the WJ after going up and then, down, had a bunch of noises because of the adhered dust, etc. Taco… silent suspension; yep, indeed the Taco is 10 years younger than my old WJ, yet I'll adventure to say that the built quality is better for the Taco.
I noticed as well, that the auto transmission tends to keep as upper gear as possible; I assume is for gas economy? If, so, I'm ok with that. Mixed high way and off road mountain climb, was 19 mpg, which is good. Additionally, if I want to feel a bit more torque, I just switch to a lower gear manually, and that's it. WJ tends to take more RPM's to have a gear change, so, more gas consumption (and for a v8, that hurts).
Going down hill, I switched to 4Lo; when operating manually gear change to a lower gear, transmission shift was soft and gentle; WJ changes in 4Lo, are sudden and not very pleasant.

In general, I liked the 4x4 experience; its my first midd size truck (I have had Jeep, and GM full size trucks, all V8).

Sounds like my experience after switching from full size GM 4x4s to my 2015 TRD Off Road 4x4.

The only Jeep I ever owned was a 1960 CJ with the knuckle end front axle. Rode rough but handled the mud quite well. Was used only as a hunting vehicle and was towed to the woods.
