I'm looking to get a rear bumper with swing-out tire carrier and a new front bumper. For all the obvious reasons there are a ton more options for Gen 2 trucks. I've got a 2004 Double Cab and I'm wondering if the difference between the 2004 & 2005 bumper mounts and sizes are significant enough that I should stick to something specifically offered for a Gen 1 truck?

I like the CBI offerings but like many people buying used vehicles, I did so because I'm not a moneybag. 4x4innovations have some interesting bumpers for less than CBI but a few threads out here suggested they aren't very responsive and I don't want to drop a couple grand only to have to nag the hell out of someone to ship a part.

So, thanks for any info you can provide.

I would stick to a bumper that is made for your 2004 truck. The frame design changed from 1st to 2nd gen.

Gen2 most things are larger or longer due to size increase. so the short answer is no, it will not work.

Thanks both of you for your input. I certainly understand they won't work out of the box but I didn't know if it would be a pretty straightforward and low-stress fab job to make them fit or if it would be more hassle than its worth. And, seeing as there are in fact options out there, it's probably in the more-hassle-than-its-worth category. I figured if it was just a matter of cutting a mounting bracket a little shorter or moving it over an inch one way or the other that might be worth it.

if you like to fabricate I'm sure you could get them to work. just make sure the axle is centered front to back unless you are ditching the bed :)
