Say it ain't so! My 09 w/6k miles on it has developed an oil leak at the transfer case. Saw oil spots on the driveway and the street. I couldn't believe it. It appears to be coming from above the fill plug where the tail piece meets the back of the transfer case. Suppose it will turn out to be either the gasket or loose bolts. Have an appointment Tuesday. If it turns out to be anything more serious, I'll post the problem/solution. In the mean time, I guess it pays to look underneath once in awhile - even on the new ones!

Sorry for not updating sooner. Quoting from the RO - "Deformed seal on the transfer case cover" which of course they "resealed". No more leak, and I had them refill the case with Amsoil.

Thanks for updating, upinsmoke. One of my pet peeves on this forum is when there are posts concerning some issue one's vehicle is having and then no follow-up on whether the issue was resolved.

I took mine into Stevens Creek Toyota, they took one look at it and said it was the timing cover gasket. They said they get Tacomas with timing cover gasket leaks all the time.
