due to two awesome members posting the backside connector on the standard rearview mirror and the limited homelink, it looks like its a simple swap to add a homelink to a non limited Tacoma. the connector is the same between both mirrors as evidence by the pictures posts.

1st pic is the backside of a normal NON homelink mirror
2nd pic is the backside of a homelink mirror.

note the connector is the same.

wanted to give a shout out to the following member for doing some leg work for this post.

I used a thread by dontstealmyride to do my research on a non limited rearview mirror located at : https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...ackage-pics-and-opinion.393439/#post-10856238

scroll down thru this members first post and you can see where they posted a pic of the rearview mirror connector.

next I used a thread by Karben4 to do research on the limited homelink mirror located here : https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/picking-up-my-mgm-limited-first-impressions.392932/

then if you scroll down to post # 95 you can see the question asked and reply : https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...first-impressions.392932/page-5#post-10857137

edit : also wanted to add the part number for homelink is : 87810-04110 according to jeff in this thread on post # 116/117

for those looking to add homelink to a NON limited 2016, please review this thread where a lot of older Tacoma forum members added a homelink to older Tacoma's.

Thanks for this. So we'd need to order a limited mirror, mount it, and plug it in. That's all?
Now we need part number and cost.

I'm sure there will be an alternative source given a little time, same as there is for the 2nd Gen trucks.

OP's mirror looks near identical (aside from the Subaru vs Toyota stamped part numbers) to the non-Homelink mirror out of my Subaru Outback.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Homelink unit currently in my car is a direct swap. I guess I'll find out eventually...

I have a gentex homelink mirror in my 2007 - all we did was wire it up to the overhead console (ignition power & fulltime power). Those mirrors can be found for $200 depending on what it has (compass, autodimming, etc). So...you can have homelink mirror, just have to figure out what wires you can tap into.

But....being able to plug-n-play a Limited mirror to the wiring in a non-Limited truck would be sweet. You could bargain with the dealership to throw that in as part of the sale ;)
I'm sure someone will come out with a cheaper aftermarket version eventually. I wouldn't pay $1000 for a mirror either!!!

My husband did a homelink install in the Corvette. Here's the writeup.

I didn't realize my TRD OR on order wouldn't have something as simple as Homlink.
I have an aversion to garage door openers, so I'll be doing some sort of mod.
My 1995 base Land Rover disco diesel had home link...

IF I may this is my answer to Homelink

There is a blank under and to the left of the wheel. I intend to removed the blank drill it out and insert this home made momentary switch soldered to a keychain opener. I only used one switch but there are three for those who want to turn on lights etc,, The Circuit board will go back in the plastic case and taped behind the dash. I've done this mod with my last three trucks and it beats Homelink.

Cost: Less than $25 and 10 minutes.....

THIS is a better switch than pictured Got it today. More flush and has screws for attaching the wires

As a security addition no one will see a Homelink garage door opener in my truck in the driveway getting access to my home. They work without a key

Is the Tacoma homelink mirror drastically different from other Toyota homelink mirrors? Would one from a RAV4 or other model work?

you do realize the 2nd gen homelink had a 2" camera in it that the 3rd gen doesn't have.
