Then it has been modifies. Have had 3 2nd Gens, always take new vehicles out for top speed run when broken in. All stock 2nd Gens are limited to 110 mph. 2nd Gen Tundras are only 5 mph faster. All testing done in the Everglades swamp on unused non county roads.

I'd love to come up to Washington and see that neck of the country with you.

I'd rather have a splinter in my penis than have this conversation anymore. I've done 120mph in my truck, no mods & no bullshit. Maybe RC 2.7 5-lugs are just better...:bananadance:

I had a 2009 Chevy Malibu LT with 256hp and 260 torque. It was governed at 105mph. You could still mash the gas and it had the power to keep accelerating, but at 105mph the governor kept it at bay. At 120mph in the taco, there is nothing left to give. It wasn't easy to achieve, but it did it. You should be able to hit 115 without much fuss, though. I also had a 1968 GTO which would do 175mph. That, was modified...

If this is just planning for some emergency situation then it'll be fine. You can crawl it home without doing any more damage. Everything will be pretty much the same except for the steering. At low speeds even that will be the same. The thing to watch out for in this emergency situation would be cross winds. keep it to 55mph while you limp home with your trailer and there shouldn't be any issues. The effects of crosswinds are amplified as you go faster due to complicated aerodynamics, so as long as you're at a speed where aero forces are not very strong then a slight gust of wind won't ruin your day.

Too many folks who run top speeds and have exorbitant claims are dealing with highly inaccurate measuring devices (their speedo) and vivid imaginations.

All vehicle have a mathematical limit based on simple gear ratios and what RPM it's able to achieve in it's highest gear. Here is the forumula.

    http://www.csgnetwork.com/speedcalc.html

It simply can't go any faster than that. And most won't even make that, as aerodynamics will keep it from achieving that max RPM. The Tacoma has the CoD of a brick.

Almost all ECU controlled vehicles have a fuel cut that works as a rev limiter. Additionally, vehicles capable of exceeding speeds that are considered safe for the type of tire ratings and brake package they come with will have a MPH limiter as well.

As far as a '68 GTO that hit 175. Well, I'd enjoy knowing the details of that package.

As a crew member on a '69 Judge that was an NHRA E/S ET record holder, I have a bit of experience there. Also had a coworker that modified his '68 for top end, and that was my sweet spot in my '64. Not that I ever did anything illegal that can be found in public record.

Honestly, if we held a top speed challenge the outcome would be ish-ish... Always going to be some discrepancies. Maybe the RC has less drag, I don't know... Maybe I don't even have a Tacoma, maybe it's a T'coma...

What? We're just having a theoretical discussion on who can piss further. In my mind, I can go so fast you'll be all like, whoa that was so fast, man...! And my arc is second to none. Oh yeah, and something about engaging 4wd while having removed the rear drive shaft for some odd reason, and then proceeding to tow for some other odd reason...
