A 4WD van with room for nine adventure seekers will be leaving San Diego on Oct. 20 for 10 days to visit up to 15 old mission sites, cave art from prehistoric tribes, old gold, silver and onyx mines from 100 years ago or more, beautiful beaches and desert scenery like no other on earth!

The famous California missions began in what is now called Baja California (it was the original 'California', 1535-1769).

Eighteen Spanish missions were founded BEFORE Junípero Serra (now Saint Junípero) founded Mission San Diego in July, 1769, as the 19th California mission. In fact, Serra's FIRST mission was founded two months earlier on his journey up the peninsula of Baja California! We will tour that mission (San Fernando de Velicatá).

The tour includes the van transportation, all meals, all accommodations, and my guide service for 10 days and 9 nights in beautiful Baja California.

Here is a link to the details, from Discover Baja Travel Club: http://www.discoverbaja.com/2015/08/13/missions-trip/

Here is my article on three rock art sites we will visit: http://www.discoverbaja.com/2015/09/21/rock-art-sites-of-baja-california/

See the home of the crazy boojum trees and so much more!

In the center of harsh desert counrty, an oasis like this became locations for Spanish missions built before there was a United States!

Another mission, California's 2nd from 1699 (San Javier):

Come to where the desert meets the sea, in Baja California!
