So some d***head decided to write in the mud on my truck, and I now have profanity and other such inappropriate markings all over my truck, and while I have a case pending with the local PD, I was curious if they don't find the guy who did it what I could do to fix this, without having to repaint the truck (damn metallic paint).

Any and all input greatly appreciated!!!!

Sandpaper usually takes out the scratches :p

Just kidding. But in all seriousness, find that mofo and make him pay for a brand new paint job. If you have insurance, you can try to call and see what they can do about it.

Well thats the current plan, but should I not find the guy, I'd rather just be able to take them out rather than repaint the whole truck

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
If it's not through the color I would think it could be re-cleared.

Just use scratch remover from any auto parts store and it will remove the scratches. I use it all the time after my desert trips that always end with a ton of dezert pinstriping

Any pics? Use a heavy cut compound like Meguiars 105 followed by 205 with a dual action polisher

Try the lightest stuff first before you start cutting into the paint. Mequires Scratch-X has worked great for me. Can use it by hand or with a DA.
