Hey guys im new to this, don't know how it works ,but if anybody can tell me if its a good idea to go bigger in tire size (just 1 inch from 265 65 17 to 265 70 17) for 2010 tacoma(without a lift). Thanks

It wouldn't be a good idea for me, because I like my speedometer and odometer to be accurate. Changing the tire's diameter prevents that. For example, at 60mph yours will read 64mph and appear to add miles onto the truck faster. https://www.tacomaworld.com/tirecalc?tires=265-65r16-265-70r17

But if your goal is a certain look, your only practical concern is if it fits.

Just the opposite actually. If your speedometer reads 60 then you are actually traveling 64.

Yes, thanks, that's what I meant to say.

I'd hate the set the cruise at 70 and get pulled over for being "10 over" in a 65mph zone. That gets expensive FAST.

Put some heavier tires on there and it won't be a problem anymore...I struggle to keep mine above 75!

My 1st Gen came to me with slightly taller tires than stock, 265/75-16. They look damn beefy but rather enormous (to me) on my non-lifted PreRunner.

It's happy at an indicated 65 but when the speedo shows just 5mph more, everything has become noticeably busier. Trans has to shift more often to maintain speed up small hills (as opposed to almost never having to do so at 65), engine running harder (despite RPMs of course not changing much) and (again, in my case ...) the suspension is more nervous. Or maybe that's just the nature of the beast?

Coming from years of car ownership, this truck is certainly interesting.

I threw on some Cooper St Maxx LT265/70R17 and have had NO rubbing or hitting issues, the truck actually looks a lot better with the slightly bigger tires IMO, fills the wells better.
As for the speedo change, I honestly havent noticed any.... I tested going through a speed trap after hours in a construction zone, 100km on the digital display was 100 on my dash.

Well, I can easily remember the difference, so I'm not worried and these tires and wheels just look so nice on my truck! I vote bigger tires, have fun with it, I'm sure you have bigger things to worry about!
