Hey guys, I've been wanting a plate bumper for a while now, but couldn't afford the really fancy ones out there so I had a local fabricator I like a lot build me one. We sketched it out and I didn't realize I forgot to tell him I wanted a more skid plate esque style rather than just a flat surface on the front. And I also just didn't even notice his sketch didn't have the sloped angle (totally my fault here). So I got there when he called and said it was done and I find this absolute monster of a bumper waiting for me, it is exactly what he had sketched out, so the only person to blame is me. Before we put it on I looked at it and thought it looked huge, I wasn't wrong. So just looking for advice on how to maybe make it seem smaller / thinner height wise than it is now. It's built extremely well and is very sturdy, but the taco just looks like it has a massive chin now, this bumper would look right at home on a 1 ton, but on my dinky taco, it just looks funny to me at least. With the license plate on it helped a little, and painting it I'm sure will help too. But looking for advice on what to do to make it look more normal. Hopefully I'm just picky and it truly looks good, but just seems way out of place in my opinion. It's not coming off regardless because its gonna serve its purpose even if it looks weird, but I'd like to make it look as good as possible. This angle is the one that looks the most out of place to me, from the front it looks okay-ish. The farther away you get the better it looks. Might have to re name my truck the crimson chin if it's too bad :/ Thanks guys.

Paint it black to match the bed. Also, you can always go back and be honest and see if he can weld on a skid plate type deal. But it might be too far for that so idk.

I thought about that, its not that I really need the skid plate style, I just like the look of it. He's only a mom and pop style shop so sadly once it's welded, that's it. He has no plasma cutter or even a professional welder, just a tiny little thing. And an ancient gravity cut band saw. He does amazing work with what he has. But its 10 gauge steel IIRC so itd take him a looong time to shave a couple inches off and completely re weld the bottom section at an angle. It was the first one he ever built I believe, and he was super proud of it so I couldnt just stomp on his heart and say I think it looks strange on the truck considering it was my fault I didn't correct his sketch to begin with.

    Yes sir
Just the hoop on top could be more round rather than so square all over maybe? Otherwise, I can't say it looks too bad

I think the main reason is that what I had in my head was completely different. I've gotten a few compliments on it from my dad's buddies, so hell. Maybe it's just me. Which would be great lol.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
I think it looks perfect. Paint it black. I think the guy hit it out of the park. Sometimes bigger is better.

Good to hear :) he's the same guy that built the bed for me, glad to hear its mainly just me being picky. What I had envisioned was just completely different. So I think that's where most of my doubt on it looking decent is coming from. Don't get me wrong. I thought it looked way better than stock, just a bit on the big side compared to what I've seen.

I think it matches the rest of the truck great. If you didn't have the flat bed I think it would look goofy, but since you do, its good to go! Paint it black and post up some pictures!

Yeah, love the bed, so much more room without wheel arches in the way. Also had him weld in steel mesh around the inside bedsides so I don't have to ratchet strap everything down all the time. And I finally got a tailgate. Nice to have a practical bed again :p

Thanks :D I'm honestly surprised how few first gens around me don't have these plate bumpers. Dodges have these bumpers like crazy around me, but almost never see tacos with em. Considering how many rigs get wrecked because of animals around here it honestly surprises me. That's the main reason I got it.

looks good. Making some cutouts in it will make it look less flat and "bare". Kinda makes bumper look smaller.
