@ryanjboutin whatever you dont touch it with bare hands ever. Use gloves, pliers or tongs, it will freeze to bare skin.

And you got to have ventilation once in awhile. I keep it in the back, in the bed under my cap. Just be careful if you keep it in the cab. Again definitely not perfect, just another option.

This is the one I'm looking at getting. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B008VX01P2...=UTF8&colid=1MVCVIXJDS81&coliid=IU6RWVOHSZ39F

Fridge AND freezer. That way i can keep things cool on one side and frozen on the other, I could even MAKE ice...

I'm toying with the idea of a small battery in the bed with it, and hooking that up to the trailer plug to charge until i get my dual battery setup done.

Well would you prefer warm coors light and melted ice cream? I mean, I agree that some of the overland setups are pretty swanky, but if you have the means, why the hell not. And keeping food and beverages cold indefinitely without having to add/change ice sounds pretty appealing to me.

Edit: i don't have a fridge. But I would like one if funds permit.

Ha, yeah. Real campers take whiskey. It takes up less space, there is less trash, and you don't have to get up and go pee as much. You can also barter with it at border crossings. In my experience, gifting a small bottle of jack to a border crossing official greatly reduces your wait and unexpected "fees".

We have the 62 qt regular one just like this^^^^ and have had no issues at all with it. Been really great for our uses.

You never brought ice cream with you because you never had a freezer to keep it cold and solid. Little luxuries like ice cream and perfectly cold beverages just make the trip that much better. When my truck is done I have a feeling I'm going to be called a glamper a time or 2, but really I'm just building it to be as convenient as possible to set up and take down. Camping doesn't have to mean roughing it, It's about getting away from the city and enjoying nature and the outdoors. There is always going to be someone who thinks you have too much luxury, All you can do is play how YOU want to play, and ignore everyone else, or ditch the comfy climate controlled truck and play bear grylls.

I read an Army manual (maybe desert survival?) that said you can drink your own piss four times before it becomes toxic. It got me to thinking that maybe my job wasn't so bad after all. Could you imagine being the guy that had to test that?

    Back to the fridge discussion...

I was one who thought having a fridge was a ridiculous idea - until I had one. The convenience is wonderful.

We take a 2 week back country trip west every year with the idea of "getting away from it all" - not having to find a town to buy ice makes things much easier. And, since we have it, we use it for quick overnighters also.

I've used various ice chests for 30 years, and I really don't miss soggy food and funny colored ice water in the ice chest.

That being said, we are considering getting a Yeti - type cooler to augment the fridge - we can stay out even longer that way.

Good ones are not cheap, but they are worth the money.

Here's how I mounted it in the back of my Tacoma. The 2 drawers are 5' long, and the fridge sits in front part of the drawer.
