I am looking at Headstrong Lift Kit Coil/Bilstein 5100 lift Kit (part # HS05BK-1), and ToyTech kit Bilstein Adjustable Lift Kit with 5100 shocks (part # BK0510ndr) to gain 2" or 3" lift so I can run 265/75r/16 tires on my 2015 TRD OR DCSB. I drive 100 highway miles a day too and from work and hunt, fish, mt bike, climb, and paddle on weekends. So a lot of dirt/gravel/rocky forest service roads on weekends. Some are pretty washed out and steep. Will these kits be sufficient? They both have options. I want to remove the driver's side lean. So I need that spacer. What other options do I need/want? UCA? Diff drop? More info about diff drop option would be helpful BTW. Tire suggestions for my situation would be helpful. Will I notice the truck having to work harder to run these slightly larger tires on the highway or in town? How about adrop in MPG?

Pics of trucks with this much lift and same sized tires would be appreciated.

    Thanks.
    Matt

redriver907 028.jpg redriver907 017.jpg redriver907 002.jpg You can run 265/75/r16's without ANY lift. Period. I did for quite a while. Not a sign of tire rub.

Now. I have a Toytech "Boss" lift, set @ 3" front (and roughly 1-1/4" lift on the rear) My tires are Goodyear Duratrac 265/75/r16, load range C (@ 38psi) There is no need for a diff drop. They cause more issues than they resolve. I made my own "taco lean spacer" from sheet poly. I'm still running stock UCA's. Alignment specs are spot on. The truck handles BETTER than it did "stock", although I'm NOT please with the ride quality of the front lift. (Too much preload....front end will ricochet off big bumps at speeds between 30 and 50. Lower speeds OK, and things smooth out at higher speeds)

I drive a LOT of highway miles. (65 every day to/from work, and many many miles on weekends...We do a lot of day trips) I do a reasonable amount of off roading to boot. I would go as far as to say you couldn't make a tire rub anywhere on this truck no matter what you tried to do with it. It has enough flex to do anything I've asked of it so far. This truck isn't a monster truck, nor a rock bouncer, but it'll go anywhere I feel inclined to go with it.

Mine is a 2011 TRD Off Road model. It came from the factory with 265/75/r16's. I went with the same size when the Duratracs went on. From that regard, no "load" on the motor that wasn't there from the jump start. The truck ISN'T a top fuel dragster, but it runs OK. I've been playing with tire pressures, and have my fuel mileage within 1MPG of what it did with what was essentially a "car tire" on it prior to the more aggressive Duratracs. I would suggest sticking with load range C tires over D or E unless you are just dead set on hard core off roading at a high frequency. Lighter tires (and wheels) help prevent that "load" on the engine you referred to.
