Hi! I'm Shannon and I have a 2002 Tacoma 4cyl 2.7l. I've had this truck since 2005 and I love it! However, I have over 217,000 miles on it and counting and I've been running into an ignition coil problem where it's been misfiring. I've replaced all the coils but it's still sputtering when I'm idle or driving. Hopefully I can get some good advice on here.

Shannon I ran into the same problem in September of 2014. I had a cylinder 3 misfire from the ignition coil pack, I changed all 4 coil packs on my 2.7 and all of the plugs....still didn't fix my problem, I had continuous misfire and it was DRINKING gas! Turns out it was my cylinder 3 injector. Replaced the injector and no problems until now...im having the same problem again, so gonna try something different with my coil packs

You should start a thread in the 1st Gen forum about the mis-fire.

A good mechanic can quickly do a simple check (to see if the injectors are firing properly) by using a stethoscope-type device. Otherwise, it will take some labor to dis-assemble the much of the intake to get at them and do more tests.

    Good luck.
