Manuals obsolete? Sport shifter? You mean the suggestion for the computer to change the slushbox gear?

One chooses to drive a car/truck, or be driven by it.

To the OP: buy a manual, 6ft is not really long bed (it would be 8ft). 5ft is plenty big for most things 6ft is.

Most things a manual can do for you, an auto can do better. From acceleration, to economy to durability in towing and safety.
One thing it can't do as well is satisfy the urge to be a control freak.:mudding:

Manual is more fun, and cheaper too! Albeit clunkier.

Manual is not more fun in rush hour traffic. Manual is seldom more fun in most situations.

Weird, most people I know with the fewest and least-fancy material possessions also have the largest bank balances. Coversely, most people I know with the biggest houses and priciest vehicles are the closest to poverty. Sticking to a budget creates the opposite of poverty. Kidding or not, you sound like a fucking idiot for implying otherwise.

@utahskier82 , you should get a used 2nd gen instead of a new 3rd gen, they're pretty easy to find in the configuration you want:

    http://www.ksl.com/auto/listing/2431990?ad_cid=2

I used to have a 2nd gen double cab V6. I found the vestigial 5 foot bed maddening, V6 Tacomas are not powerful either but they get no better mileage than a full-size V8 truck. A 2nd gen access cab has plenty of room for dogs and the jump-in height is actually better than a double cab. Sam Evans in Sandy, UT can get you an aluminum shell including a roof rack for about half the cost/weight of fiberglass, who the fuck cares if it looks like a grandpa truck.

It is easier to drive in traffic. But not for the majority of the American driving public aka mobile appliance operators.

Agree.. If my choices were 2015 V6 or 2016 I4.. No brainer, get the 2015.. If you can find a 2015 DC 4x4 with the V6 and you want to save a little cash, get the 2015. It wont disappoint.

Manual is not the problem. Wasting valuable hours of your life in rush hour traffic is the problem.

Well, a couple of things. First, until you do a side by side check and drive both, nothing of what we say really matters. It will come down to what you like the best.

Secondly, the 2016 and 2015 may have a resemblance to each other, but they are as different as night and day and other then the carryover four itself, could be made by two different manufacturers.

Lastly, when you buy a new truck, you're really not saving money by skimping too much by buying a new 2015 over a 2016 of the choices you present. Actually saving money means going out and looking for a used one several years older as you know, nothing has changed for ten years.

The refinement difference is so great, you may actually like t 2016 four over a 2015 v6. If all you're going to do is drive it like a car and want a big trunk, that works fine.

Wait, drive both and tell us how you feel then.

As far as a manual over a an auto, that's strictly a personal choice.

Is that because your left leg was ground down to an infected decaying stump, caused by driving a manual in traffic?

I considered a used second gen, but the cost of that truck is only $2000 less than a 2016 base and the 2011 doesn't have any special options that I can tell.

I still go through Toyota's site and it's maddening. Base engine that may or may not work for me on a base rig....OR you can buy a top of the line for $7000 more to get a stick and a V6!!!

Wait...what?!?! LOL, are you seriously criticizing him for not using proper standard written English in a forum about trucks? I guess you are the kind of guy that slams people in texts for using "ya" instead of "yes."

To say ACLB is redundant. The only bed that an AC comes in is a 6 foot bed. It would look pretty stupid otherwise.

    I say an SR5 DCLB.
Not sure if they are making an AC TRD Off-road or not but that is an option. Obviously you want to go for a 4X4.

Also the Sport comes with 17'' wheels. The Limited comes with the 18''s. And you can always buy new wheels.

If money is a big concern:
Go look at where your money takes you with a full-sized. The prices of the new Taco are hard to swallow, especially when you can get a full-sized for cheaper.
