So no one has the config I'm looking for. SR 4x4 2.7L with manual which creates a problem; I can't test drive it.

I decided to make an hour drive to test drive a 2014 model with that config. I was blown away by how bad the clutch pedal and shifter were. I could care less about the shifter but the pedal has no feed back. My current truck has a hydraulic clutch as well and I really like how I can feel the engagement of the clutch disk through the pedal. I'm not sure how the Toyota R series has changed over the years but my Isuzu has a R series 5 speed. I think its the 154 but holding the shifter is like an extension of my body. I can feel the shifter moving the parts, synchros engaging. It's a difficult thing to explain. But basically none of that was there with the Tacoma. Everything was so dampened and muted. The clutch felt like an electric clutch or something. I had to look at the tach to see if it's engaging.

Anyways, is the 3rd gen clutch like this too? I know the engine and trans are going to be the same but I'm wondering if the clutch pedal and master are the same too. Any input from people who have one of these Tacomas?

It's the same transmission on the 4 cylinder, so I would assume the same clutch too. Only the 6-speed manual that comes with the V6 is new.

No.....but our local dealer has one....an SR 4x4 4 cylinder manual.
The salesman came out while I was looking at it....have known him for a very long time and he asked me if I wanted to take it for a spin.....then he was paged. It was a real paying customer so I did not wait around for the keys. IMHO. In MGM with a black grill, black surround and NO badges what so ever, it looked better then the SR5 in the same color next to it. The grill in both did not look big at all. Both were black. That was probably why.

Mine was next to it, a 2015 and I compared details and everything from the composite bed to the fender liners to the frame...everything, looked more substantial and higher quality then the 2nd gen. The profile and size were about the same but when you get up close and compare, it's entirely different and frankly a better executed truck.

All except for one thing. The dash does look good.....but so doesn't the old dash. They just look different. In another week I will try one out.....
