My relative just bought a 2001 tacoma today. The truck has no tachometer. If I could find a junkyard tacoma that has the full gauge cluster, is swapping them out plug and play? I dont want to mess anything up.

You mean there is a hole in the existing dash where a tach was?

Individual instruments can be swapped on the cluster frame AFAIK. So while you might have to buy a whole cluster to get a tach, you should be able to install the tach in the existing cluster.

    But there are questions.............

    1) why is it missing?

    2) is the OE wiring there and not mangled?

    3) does your grandmother really need a tach?

    4) how about a blank piece of sheet metal to fill the space, but do something artistically creative with that filler?

I added a tach my ol' '86 B2000. Think I paid $25 for it. The picture was taken rather low so it really wasn't much in the way of the speedo...just looks like it is in the pic.
