Hey guys, just got my rampage led tailgate light bar. Got it with the reverse option. Wanted to
Hard wire it so I could sti use my hitch for towing. Went to hard wire and tried 2 different ways with pairing the wires from my lightbar (white, brown, yellow, and green) but still couldn't get it to work. I was wondering if anyone has suggestions on proper wiring models? I'm a little nervous because it says online that someone tried to hardwire it and voided the warranty so I would hate to do that and still not have it work

Check the wiring harness behind the rear bumper follow the harness to the rear lights figure out which 2 or 3 wires the reverse light is hooked up to and tap into the wires from there not sure what colors are for positive negative but should be easy

Also to help with people that want to help you pix of what your trying to install might help and I'm sure someone that truly knows what they are talking about will be in here to tell you how to do it but tapping into wore harness seems the easiest

where are you trying to hard wire this into? you have 2 potential hard wiring options.... splicing into the tail light harnesses or splicing into the towing harness.

Depending on the watts that the LED bar draws, you may need to add a relay.

Relay is not needed in his case... Those led bars are designed to be plugged into a standard 4pin connector. i would be suprised if it pulled more than 5 amps total.

I wanted to tap into the tow wire harness but could find which wires do what. If you guys have any idea what ones are right, left, running, and ground (white I believe) that would be awesome!

Awesome man! Thank you! Any idea best way to connect my lightbar wires to these? Wire taps, cut both and butt connect, or solder?

solder and heat shrink will always be the best way. I would buy a 4 pin connector (vehicle side) pigtail or even an extension cable. use this to solder into the harness. this way you always have a 4 pin connector available if needed.

Confused by this. If I just wanted to tap into those 4 wires so my tailgate light bar works and tap into the reverse in my taillight do I need to do the 4 pin? Will just tapping into those wires still allow the tow harness to work just fine?

What you are doing is just fine. It was a preference on mine. Having a 4 pin adapter just made it easier for plugging in the light bar or plugging in something else temporarily.

I carry a 7 pin to 4 pin adapter for towing but if I was ever to forget it/lose it/let someone borrow it, I would be unable to hookup the lights on the trailer that had a 4 pin.

    Again just a personal preference.
