I think hers does ride inside, I don't see how a seal will get over that abs gear.
Mine rides on the edge, and seals against the largest portion of the shaft, near the bearing.

Even though her truck is non abs, the axle is. She has the wrong seal for that axle, I'm guessing..:notsure:

I was thinking the same thing but I never changed one. And her axle housing looks like a capped off ABS axle housing. So she might need a seal for a ABS shaft. I don't know if they are different.

It's not supposed to be flush, it sits inboard, there is a bevel/lip where it sits. The old one is installed correctly. They are a bitch to get in properly.

    :bananadead:

We're the only ones who've been inside anything in this truck. I bought it from the original owner and it was completely stock. The was installed like that on both sides from the factory.

Nope, factory axle. You may be remembering the pictures of when I pulled the entire housing off to clean it when I first bought it.

THIS IS WHY I CANT HAVE NICE THINGS

if anyone wondered what a strait piped 3.4 sounded like with a stack... it has the 2 cats in it still. PS it is steeper than it looks and I did make it just put it in low and crawled up the last part.

God dang it lol. Looks like 98s are freaking mutants of the tacos. I'm not sure about 99 and 00 but looks like the 98s have two axle types and some just have block off plates for ABS. I even have the weird extended frame in the front so my bumper has nipples. Lol

Painted my bumper with 2 coats of POR15, along with the drivers side frame and everything else I could reach. Other side tomorrow, and maybe even the rear axle If I get ambitious. Sadly the top half of the Eibachs didn't stay silver through this excursion :p

That's interesting. I feel like my 5100's are a bit bouncy. They're shaft side down currently. Perhaps I will try shaft side up.

Id leave it attached for now. The ECU uses the EGR to control combustion chamber temperatures. Im sure it would adapt to a point to where it would be ok, though the system will keep signaling the EGR valve to open and close when there is nothing there, then adjusting fuel trim for what it assumes would be less oxygen present in the chamber.

Even if its not pulling in the same volume of exhaust gasses as it would with a regular exhaust setup, it will still pull in some inert gas into the system as its meant to.

Degreased the hell out everything, wire brushed everything, beat the crap out of everything with a hammer to knock any big scales off that may have been hanging around. Then applied their metal treatment for 25 mins or so. Then painted finally.

Suspension, 33s, some armor... Rust, Gray wire and 2Low, and more. T4r is stock.
I have no intention to actually do an EGR delete. I was only kidding. However, if my cat ever goes bad it will be gone.

I was reading my Haynes Manual this morning and came across the last page that had all spark plug conditions. This is what it said " Symptom: Oily coating caused by poor oil control. Oil is leaking past worn valve guides or piston rings into combustion chamber. Causes hard starting, misfiring and hesitation."

    Hopefully it helps.

A couple of years ago I'd have been afraid to see Jon's reaction/remedy. Now I eagerly wait in anticipation.
