    Hey all,
As the title says, looking at a 2013 DCSB Baja SC that has caught my eye. I've been overseas for so long looking to keep my options open. I've always been a fan of the Baja. I understand others aren't. I'm not too mechanically inclined, and like that this is all under warranty from the factory with a modest 2" lift. I like having the supercharger option as well for power. I'm looking at employment with a fire department in Florida, which has the 24/48 schedule so my commute and driving is limited (MPG not a huge concern).

The one I'm looking at has about 31,000 miles and they want $30xxxx. Overall, I'm extremely happy with the truck, the color, and the options. I wanted to keep it lower mileage and am happy to stay under 40k. My last vehicle was a 2004 Nissan Frontier I've had since I was about 18 years old. I pretty much drive these to the ground. I do like the higher resale value of the Taco though, should options change in the future. My only reservation is the lack of Entune and navigation!! I really think I would have used those features. I understand on the audiophile forums here that there is an Android head unit that has similar functions, which would be somewhat of a fix. Thoughts on that? I'm coming from an antiquated Fronty which had none of those features so I'm not really entirely sure I'd use them. I mean, they sound nice lol.

I also know with the 2016's coming out, you can score some pretty good deals on a '15 OR and other options (Entune, JBL, etc) and don't want to ridiculously overpay unnecessarily so.

Thoughts? I mean, the high resale value is just the nature of the beast...

    Thanks for your time!

Go for it! There's a an entune head unit right now on the for sale forums for $150, or if you really want a nice stereo go aftermarket.

I too have been going back and forth between a 2 nd gen vs 3rd gen and personally like the 2nd gen better. We know they're good trucks and time will tell on the 3rd gen.

The SC is a huge plus as they are not being produced anymore.

Buy the truck, and from what I've heard, you can part out the SC for what you paid for the truck.

Yeah, not a huge fan of the 2016's either. To each their own. I have the paperwork being processed now, it's just being shipped to my sister's etc. to sign. I have a $2500 deposit to hold it. Overall, I don't want any regrets. I just wish it had Entune!! I think adding an Entune unit and getting nav is pretty tricky, hence pursuing the aftermarket route and getting an android interface. Oh well.

My husband said the same thing, "Just go for it." It's just definitely a good amount of money!

Wait... The SCs aren't being produced anymore?? I thought they were just on backorder from reading the title of that other thread.

TRD discontinued the entire program. Some people were paying $8k to get their hands on the last remaining units. If you have a dealer installed SC it is covered under the trucks powertrain 5yr/60k mile warranty. Magnuson (the SC manufacture) has purchased the rights from Toyota and will bring back production soon, without the TRD badging. They have already brought back the 3.4 SC. However this will be 'aftermarket' and likely not covered under Toyota's warranty. The truck is far more fun to drive with the supercharger.

The Baja suspension rides great, much better than the TRD, the truck is awesome to drive with that suspension paired with the extra power from the SC. I wouldn't worry about the etune so much. It is ok, but aftermarket options will be better if you want to have a higher quality sound system.

    Edit:
    Just for some comparison numbers:
Supercharger is about $6k + tax installed at MSRP (they don't go for MSRP anymore)
    Baja suspension: $1500
    Baja wheels: $1000
So those parts alone would cost $8500

Well it took a while for the paperwork but sent it off today, FedEx'd overnight and should arrive on Monday. Since it's out of state, I'm getting it shipped to me so hopefully within the next week or two I'll have a new (to me) vehicle with minimal complications!!!!!

    Cheers

To add, Entune sucks. There is a huge thread about it.

I wouldn't buy an Entune unit or pass on a truck that didn't have it.

    Congrats on the truck!

The stock trucks have a rake, so when the bed is loaded they sit level. The Baja sits level unloaded, with 2" lift in the front and no lift in the rear. I would suggest adding a 1.5" 3 leaf progressive AAL lift in the rear to get a little rake. The improved firmness with the progressive AAL pairs excellently with the firmer Baja front suspension. That is the setup I am running. Icon/Toytec/Wheelers progressive AAL are all the same.
    http://toyteclifts.3dcartstores.com/Toytec-Progressive-3-Leaf-Add-A-Leaf-Pack_p_976.html

Also, pick up a can of Fluid Film at Lowes, next to the WD40, which is in power tools (very logical). The bare aluminum shock bodies on the Baja shocks get surface corrosion. It is just cosmetic, but a quick wipe down with Fluid Film will prevent that and keep them looking like new. It is a self healing wax spray.

    Hey Crash,
I will look into that at Lowes and do as you say. Totally makes sense!! Thanks so much for the tip!

So the truck was picked up yesterday and possibly delivered on Friday. I'm a bit bummed as mileage on my truck via my paperwork is about 175 more less than what are on it right now. Basically, between putting my down payment / signing and mailing the paperwork, the bastages decided to take it for a joy ride and put 175 miles on it. The sales guy was texting me pictures of the truck so I had them on my phone when the shipping company comes in, and inquired via reply about the mileage. First, he says that was the mileage that was when the truck was taken in (a lie and easily proved wrong). Then he backtracked and said that it must have been a typo. Then he ignored me. In the end, I just think that's kind of dishonest and shifty, but I guess I'll just wait for the truck to get here to decide if I want to pursue a complaint. I was also going to buy Weather Tech's, and now I have to because the truck comes with NO floor mats. Granted, if I was there I would have noticed that, but since I was overseas doing the dealing, these are the little surprises that you get from buying things remotely.

I found a place in Florida that sells Weather tech's for $92! The backs are cheaper. I think OTD it's like $170 which was actually cheaper than I had seen online. I'm just waiting for the truck to get here to decide what color I want.

    I'll keep you peeps updated.

    Thanks and later!

Before you jump on the weather techs, look at the Huskies. Some folks like those better.

There is nothing special about entune

In dash nav just limits your options while giving a bigger screen. A nice portable unit, like a Garmin or Magellan, will give you much more flexibility. And no need for the dealer to update maps. Plus in a few years, much cheaper to upgrade technology wise, which is unlikely for any built in.

So I'm pretty sure I bought this dude's truck:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/2013-supercharged-baja-tx-for-sale.332055/

I PM'd him a few weeks ago before purchase but I don't think he's really active anymore. The good thing is, the Baja rim is still the spare rim. And Weather Tech floor mats were in the bed of the truck. The truck has a topper on it so no one checked they were there.

What I need to know is what is the gauge for and the lighted switch on the interior pics?? It's got Volant cold air intake so I'm assuming something for that?

Also, what kind of tonneau cover is that? I want to get a Bestop and will be selling this. You'll probably see it posted in the FS section. I'm in FL lol. Shameless plug.

I figured out the odd brackets on the hood were for lights.

Any help would be appreciated on the gauges. I'm pretty excited. Buying vehicles remotely was a huge hassle and don't recommend it. It was dropped off with a quarter tank of fuel, one set of keys, (initially) no floor mats, and the radio didn't work because the antenna broke off in the mount. But the positive is I now have a Tacoma after registering on this forum since 2008, it's the Baja, it's what I want, and it's got a supercharger. So. Life is actually good.

    Sorry for being pic heavy

Air/fuel ratio gauge to tell you if you're running lean or rich, especially when under boost.

    Beautiful truck.

Very nice truck!!!....I basically have the same thing except mine is a manual. Don't forget about the fluid film. Just spray it on and leave it. I'm sure you'll love your truck. Congrats!

    Thanks, everyone.

It was his truck, but I bought it from a dealership in Texas and not him.

So the gauge is a mixture. What is the swtich for? and what does the gauage mean, like what should it stay between? I'm such a noob. I have many pages of reading to do...

I have no idea the tire size and it's too dark to go out and check right now. Tires look brand new though.

gratz on the truck, best thing to do is flip the toggle switch and see what happens. the gauge (air/fuel) should read somewhere in the 14.XX at idle and should go down into the 11's when your flooring it (not pedal to the metal flooring lol). Don't focus too much on the led light going back an forth, the number is what you what to keep an eye on.
