Easy Bump-Stop Mod For U-Bolt Flip Kits

So, after hours of searching the web and TW, i finally came up with a cheap and easy way to get the right height bump stop. I have an All-Pro U-Bolt Flip Kit and 1.5"-2" of lift with the Extended Bilstein Rear Shocks ( 3"-4" lift RCD Bilstein Shocks) I know running these longer shocks, you can bottom them out pretty easily with the stock bump-stops.

I didn't want to spend alot of money on bump-stops, so i found some universal, single bolt, 5" bump-stops that can be cut to your desired length and mounted on the frame, the plate that the stock bump-stop hits.

Got mine from 4Wheel Parts cause i needed them in a hurry. Cost $27.99 for the Bump-Stops.

First, figure the length you want your bump-stop to be so that you don't bottom out your shocks or damage your suspension. ( I left mine a little longer till i cycle my suspension off road and then trim them with a Sawzall if need be ) Then cut the bump-stop with a saw ( Sawzall, SkillSaw, ect...)

Mark where you want it to be mounted on the top bump-stop plate. Drill a 3/8" hole in the top bump-stop plate, ( I was able to drill from the top down ), and bolt it on! It's that simple And quick too! Only took 10 minutes per side.

is it just me or is the place you mounted the bump stop to smashed in a little? couldn't be from the bump stop right?

It'a not smashed in at all. Thats how the top bump stop plate looks on my 07 Tacoma.

 

I would've got those stops but i needed 4 inches center to center to bolt it to the u-bolt flip plate. The stops alone are 4 1/2" long not including the mounting tabs. But thanks for the input

 

well this is some good info,think i may steal this idea. as much as speanding $250 on timbren bs ill talk this instead maybe lol

A lot of people forget to adjust the bump stop clearance, when they do a lift.

Day after i put these stops in, I hauled 15 -90lb bags of concrete in the bed and had 1" between bump stop and the flip plate and 2" before my shocks would bottom out. They worked really good. I plan on trimming them a half inch for a little more up-travel.

 

I'm not trying to threadjack here but there is a way better bump stop out there then this one for around the same price too made of the same material wheelers has on theirs.










You can add another .5" of height using fender washers over the stud to space it out and another .25" with the All Pro U-Bolt flip kit mounting plate for an overall height of 4.75".

 

or you could buy the plates that are tapped for a bump?

Where did you get those bumps?

 

GM. Any Chevy dealer will have them as they are made for Silverado 1500's. I did a write up on them a long time ago.
