It's so easy a caveman can do it. Get a good C-clamp and hold it all at the kingpin, pull the leaf-clamps off and let the c-clamp out slowly. Repeat in reverse to repack after you've removed leaves.

Allow me to be moar specific so I don't get grilled

If you disconnected your shock and drooped your axle all the way out (including the shackle ) what is the measurement from top of bump to bump plate?

Leaf "clamps" not leafs... What scares me is pulling something that is meant to hold the integrity of the pack... All that stress on just the main leaf when drooped out is no bueno.

    Oh, ok.

Yeah I wouldn't do that either, but only because the springs might shift. I think the main spring can support the weight of the axle drooping completely on its own. On my XJ I have problems with lower leaves "pivoting" and popping sideways. Basically popping out and rubbing on my boggers. It didn't ruin the tire, but did significant visual damage to the sidewall before we noticed it. Had to flex it back out on a rock and take a rubber mallet and beat it back in... Ended up using muffler clamps to get off the trail and keep them in until I could get a better fix in place.

Not my actual tire (I didn't get a picture) but it was like this.... Just imagine it popping more though, to the point

ultimately this is the fix... It should allow the pack to droop more and the leaves to not "pop" sideways... http://www.fullsizechevy.com/forum/general-discussion/offroad/410017-leaf-spring-hitting-tire.html

No problems so far but understand your concern.
Right around 11" maybe a bit more. Shackle is my limiting factor.

All of this gets very confusing from the different packs available. You have different shackles and leafs but only get 11? I'm still on OEM shackles and once we disconnected my shocks it drooped the fuck out. My poor brake lines were screaming.

Getting all of this worked out makes my brain hurt. I'm now going to break down these 14"s and rebuild them with all new stacks. I picked up a Ubolt flip and superbumps and I still need brake lines and steel for fabrication

Maybe by Xmas I'll be ready to have these installed

Here's some more info to add to the confusion. It's from the ATO shackle flip thread. All I know is the rear works well for me and don't plan on changing anything.

I'm not even going to swap shackles at this point. Adding yet another variable to my ride height and droop will make me insane right now. So I'm narrowing my scope. Keeping it as simple as possible.

New sliders just about finished up. Just need to cut and notch some legs and cut and bend some mounting plates.

Did you happen to measure the distance from the center of the hub to the fender?
