HEY! I just finished. Whew, what a freakin pain it is to do that. Totally worth it though, looks like a new truck...minus the dings, the foggy headlights and rusted armor :anonymous:. I am going fishing tomorrow so I can grab a few pics then. Ill get at least one before I hit a dirt road and 4 hours of hard work disappears.

Does anyone know the difference between an 05-11 bumper and a 2012+? I might have the opportunity to snag a 2012 front. I don't really feel like selling my front bumper at a slight loss only to repurchase another and wait for it to come in.

Because the 2011 wont fit with the updated front. If it was a easy fix then I would beg and plead someone (you :D) to modify it. If it isn't a simple fix then I would have to decide if I really want the updated front. If I did then I would need to sell and re-buy.

    Make sense?

Im still lost...what bumper would you be putting on and why? Are you wanting to update the front of your truck to a 2011? or..i don't see the point of switching bumpers...

    Ok, lets try again.

My truck is a 2011. That means I fall into the 2005-2011 tacoma category. The front looks like this:
    2011-toyota-tacoma-front-profile_f679590e7dffc14d8f2386e87e4fcd3c91828ae3.jpg

I want to update my front to the 2012 - 2015 front end (Like Marc's truck). It looks like this:

The problem with this switch is that I own a front bumper for a 2005 - 2011 Tacoma. Apparently the bumper will not fit 2012 models and I do not want to buy a 2012 front bumper. This means my hybrid bumper will need to be modified to fit. I want to know the extent of modifying the bumper and if it would be worth it. If not I would need to sell the 2011 hybrid and use that cash to order a bumper to fit the 2012 front.

Think its just the grill lines dont quite line up. Its not anything major though as far as i know. The area where the grill/headlights meet will be exposed with an older bumper.
Im assuming hes talking about swapping to a 12+ front end minus the bumper

Your bumper should fit just fine.. one of the local guys is running the 05-11 all pro tube bumper on a 12+. Id assume itd give the same look as your hybrid

Sweet, maybe I can just get Pelfrey to send me the grille pieces and have them welded on at a later time.

Ill see if i can get a picture and post it. But being hybrid i dont think there is any actual difference there. I know plates have the angled piece though.

    Okay, now im with you.

Well if youre doing a swap i don't think you'll need a new bumper because you won't be changing the direct mounts. It might not line up as nice with the grill.

Craig just did this, he can have insight @HomerTaco

I doubt they would charge me a lot for them. It would save me some time when I am explaining to a local welder what I want.

recent pic of your front end?

I'm running a brute force fab front hybrid - it will look just fine once I adjust it for the body lift.

The issue is the bottom headlight trim snaps into a piece held in place by the stock front bumper. I have the parts just have not messed with it yet.
