Just bought an 08. It needs new shocks, thinking Bilstein 5100. Should I lift it? And if I don't what's the biggest tire I can run?

With 5100s you can adjust the height to 4 settings. If you want close to level set the fronts at the first setting, .85 (slight rake) or the second, 1.75 (slightly nose high). For both of those, the biggest tire you can run without trimming is 265/70/17 or 265//75/16. If you want to lift it higher than that get an AAL or new leaf pack for the rear and some OME or Toytech coils (paired with the 5100s) to get anywhere from 2-3 inches of lift. With 2.5-3 inches lift, you can run 285s but you will probably need to do some light to heavy trimming depending on tires/wheels and how you plan to use it. Also, at that height you will want to consider new UCAs, although it is not required it is a good idea.

Another option for tires are the skinny 33s. I believe they are 255/85/16 or 255/80/17. I do not think those will rub, but I am not positive. This topic has been covered in many threads, look around in the suspension and wheels and tires sections to get a better idea of what you want. good luck

Just make sure you also get new top mounts. My experience with past vehicles is if the struts are done, the only thing worth reusing is the spring. Everything else should be replaced.
