any decent plasma cutters out there for $1000 or less? Though rare, 1/4'' mild steel will be the thickest i'll cut. 1/8'' & 3/16'' will be much more common. just occasional garage use. anything thicker than 1/4'' goes to the machine shop. I can run 120 or 240 volt, and have more air compressor than i'll need to run one in my size range, so a built in compressor is not a requirement.

Picked up an Everlast Power 50s a few weeks ago for under $900 shipped. Been working well for me in the garage in the evenings.

    Nice compressor.

Do yourself a favor and put a hose out of the bottom for lowing the dust out of the shop. You will be able to blow out the dirt out the door while blowing out any accumulating water that may be sitting in the bottom of the tank. Kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

Hey man. I picked up a Klutch 375 from northern tool about 6 months ago, runs off 220. It cuts awesomely for me. Goes through 3/16" like butter. I was skeptical at first because I hadn't heard of the brand but I decided to try it out cuz it had great reviews and it has panned out very well for me so far! It cuts just as well as my buddy's hypertherm. It was $650. Just an option for you. It would do great for you, for occasional garage use.

Yeah it's so much better i can get well over 1500 starts on the CNC now with the dry air. Yeah we do a lot of blasting I'm in the process of building a 20'x10' blast room to keep the dust down.

Cute is a pretty good adjective to describe that Quincy. I got 8, 250 HP Quincy units to maintain.images_92dc14ed48aa075775bff5bf39770acde0a52f02.jpg
