Finally got around to fixing my tailgate and installing the reinforcement!

Damage started on the top lip, and went up toward the tab:

After half assed straightening, shitty welding, and color-matching:

The tailgate will never be straight, but it will no longer buckle on me.

Took ol' RustyBlue to the dealership yesterday for 120k maintenance. Ihad extended rear brake flex lines for them to install before i put the expo leafs on. Just picked up the truck, and the damn flex lines were installed on the front brakes!!!!!! So i'll be returning on Monday to get those switched around at hopefully no charge.

On the bright side, the front diff fluid flush completely eliminated the grinding noise i first thought was bad wheel bearings then a bad needle bearing :yay:

About time you get that tailgate fixed!

Glad to hear you figured out the noise up front. How'd you figure out to change the diff oil?!

I didn't figure anything out. Just so happens the noise and vibration stopped after the maintenance was done. Since it included changing the diff oil, i assume that was what fixed it.

and that tailgate cap is awesome. day after i installed, i loaded a buddy's harley in the bed. Tailgate didn't flex

Little less rusty underneath. Painted the rear axle and differential today. Will get the axle closer to the hubs during suspension install.

Got the coilovers and UCAs installed last Sunday (30 Aug).
    2015-08-30%2014.37.27_zpsu226ldb8_323309798225085c7f77157b29505533abcdb17d.jpg

Coilovers gave me 2-1/8" lift on both sides, which about levels out the truck (1/8" of bro lean, NOOOO). The expo leafs are supposed to give me 4" in the rear, so i'll need to get those coilovers up to 3" before I change the rear.

While I was getting everything ready, I found the driver side rear brake flex hose is leaking at the upper bracket *facepalm. Damn dealership techs... I'll be taking a look at that when I do the rears this weekend.

Rear expos and fox struts installed today. No need to adjust the front coils; the height difference between front/back is 3.5".

this rusty frame crap is getting ridiculous. I didn't qualify for a new frame, so i got the goop spray. Removing the spare tire for the rear suspension change revealed this...

    2015-09-11%2016.24.58_zpsk7uluzon_d4100ac3903ba2c0f395d5804e723d049009dbad.jpg

Large scale covered in the goop spray just starts falling away at my touch. :annoyed:

I don't quite know how to begin here but I felt I owe it to my friend to signal an end to his thread.

Earlier today, my best friend Bryan (OP) was killed on his motorcycle. I do not know any more details on the incident right now but if someone knew him locally and wants to know more, pm me and I can give you updates.

    RIP my friend.

Terrible. Thoughts are with his family and new kid. If anyone ever sets up some kind of go-fund-me type page, please let us know
