Some years back we had a nine day ice storm which knocked trees down our entire mile and a half road. Two of us piled into the back of my neighbors plow truck with he backing backing out in 4 low while we stood on a pile of frozen sand in the bed cutting limbs and trees down overhead, with chain saws while stopping only to refuel the saws and drink beer from a six pack on the cab roof; ...I lost count of the safety rules we violated...but we did wear helmets.

Yep. We were without power for thirteen days. The old generator ran pretty much non stop when we were at home. We slept in the basement near the wood stove to keep it tended. The only time we were comfy was riding to and from work in our cars. That's life in Maine.

I live in L.A. and my wife is from BFE NH. I went up there for Christmas a couple years ago and it was fine till we went to Portsmouth(sp?). Then it turned into a big pile of NOPE. This was reinforced when I did a roadtrip from NYC to L.A. with 2 days in Detroit in February. It was in the negative temps when I left NYC. Hit a blizzard west of Detroit on I-94 on the way to see my buddy in Valparaiso, In. Continued in the negative temps till Arkansas or something. Austin was nice. Drove in the wonderful warm darkness of the southwest till we hit L.A. at 4 AM.

TL;DR: not made for the cold weather. I will take droughts and wildfires.

Make sure you engage your 4L on a soft surface. I recommend the neighbor's lawn. Give the pedal a good ping for effect!

I just put some thick nylon washers in there that I found at Lowes. Got a longer M10-1.25 hex head screw (got a couple of lengths to make sure they worked) and thats it. I went back and put one more in there so I'm close to 2" now and its much better. I just like a higher driving position.
