It's insurance. And insurance companies make money by collecting more premium than payouts made.

You may be a 'winner', but the odds are against you.

Don't know whether you are in Canada or the US but I am told the extended warranty is offered by a third party in Canada and is a total waste of money...

My last new car was a Lexus. And I got the 2 year platinum warranty. It cost 600 dollars.

It's cheap insurance. For my car I had the XM die and one of the pillar airbag lights came on. About 2000 dollars worth of work.

It's up to you if it's worth it. But with a first year car. I am getting on my 2016 Tacoma. If it's the same price. Your looking at 80 cents a day.

My 6 year/100k warranty was $1000. To add three years of coverage and have the work done by a dealership seemed worth it to me. You can always get a refund for the remaining portion of you choose to cancel. Just make sure you get a factory extended warranty and not an aftermarket one!

You also don't need to buy it right away. Just as long as you get it before the original warranty expires.

All the Toyota dealers in my area offer a lifetime warranty that covers power train and associated components. It's an insurance type coverage, but it's free. Just have to perform all scheduled maintenance.

Are you guys talking about the US Extended Warranty or the Canadian Extended Warranty?

No. Reliability is a primary factor in choosing Toyota.

I can tell you this. When I have an extended warranty, I have everything replaced. If you can get it at their cost, then I think it is a good deal.

Well I purchased the whole enchilada ... 125,000 bumper inclusive. I usually frown on throwing money away for unnecessary insurance, but this 2016 has some new electronic changes and I just wanted to be covered. Usually I can do 1 or 2 trips a year between Texas and far Northern Canada. Less stressful to know I am covered and can take it to any Toyota dealership.

I bought it. I'd have to roll my mods back to use it. In the end it only cost me a thousand dollars and if I need to use it I'll get my money back and more.

I bought a 2015 DCSB Sport 4x4 in June and would have never considered spending for an extended warranty. The rep at the credit union recommended looking up the rates through a 3rd party and coverage through a major insurance co was $389.00 to cover 60 months 100K miles with $100.00 deductible. I questioned the low cost and was told the premium reflects the data on the number of claims for that make/model. I went with the coverage.

Hey there - this is a good question, I just bought a 2016 TRD Sport and they offered me a 7 year bumper to bumper 100K+ (forget how much miles) for $800. They gave me till Friday to decide. Should I take the deal?? List price is $1450. I know a lady that just does this type of insurance for Audi and this type of insurance is like $700 cost for the dealer. I think it even covers maintenance just like for the first 2 years and is more inclusive.

IS that exclusionary coverage? I don't think people need "powertrain coverage" It's the electronic tech stuff that I would worry about if anything.

Toby only sells Platinum Coverage which is exclusionary...Everything is covered except for exclusions listed. No deductible. I paid $685 for 7/75 on my 08. THAT I would buy.
