sup people. been looking for a nice set of replacement headlights (blacked out), for my 2014... i dont want to do the BLHM myself, since im not confident... the few locals ive contacted regarding a full HID and BLHM just cost a fortune and is kind of inconvenient to get the job done (the truck is my daily, so i can't be without it)...

leads me to googling today, and i see finally people are making some more for the 2012+ models.. i know there are a few companies making headlights already. as pictured here:
    http://www.dashzracing.com/images/P/PRO-YD-TT05-HL-BK-01.jpg
    or
    http://www.topgearautosport.com/img/350/101122MZ4I.jpg

but i personally am not a fan of these style lights... the LED things turn me off and they just dont suit my taste..

so i come across these today:
    http://www.protuninglab.com/20totap...googlepepla&utm_medium=adwords&id=59473762217

and this is exactly what i have been looking for! factory look... nice and black...

i guess my question is this: since all the models of lights i posted, which i dont like, have HID bulbs, but these are just the standard reflective bulbs, will having the smoke tint like this take out some of the light? dim em down at night? id imagine they are tested to work safely but i thought id double check to see if anyone may know first hand. either from owning these exact ones or just light experience in general. there don't seem to be any reviews on these anywhere on the net.

    any insight would be great.

Well your first 2 links are 05-11.. so those won't work and they don't make them for 2012+ IIRC.

Yes the smoked tint on your third link will cut down some of the light, but not drastically. Would be best to run your fog lights on with these. I assume you already do though?

I've owned about every set of headlights there are for 05-11

May I suggest one more along the lines of these:

not a huge fan of the U led, personally... and ive considered the lamin-x before. but i get the feeling it would just slightly darken up all the chrome... plus the reviews on that link you provided are terrible LOL

ahh ok. yes i run the fogs... i have seen those too when i saw the blacked smoke... those are an option.. but still chrome! i like the full black look (i understand the BHLM leaves some chrome). Thanks for chiming in!

Just ideas, I did vinyl over my fogs but got a sheet from ebay and made them for 5 bucks.

Yeah, not cheap, but you can sell your current OEM ones to help offset the cost.

that is true and definitely an option... i think this would be my worst case... i am still diggin the black smoke.. i think they would look best on my trying (dont everything to remove every bit of chrome on my MGM, and the headlights are an eyesore)

my rig with factory headlights: (rear bumper and tacoma side badges are now black - not seen here)

someone had problems with the turn signal melting on the aftermarket bhlm for 2012+.

Not sure if anyone recently had a review.

just saw that, upon investigating further... wish there were more reviews on these things... looks like the black smoke 30% lens tint cuts out quite a bit of light (saw in another thread)... yikes.

Page 2 has the pics. Not surprising, tints blocks light, that is its job. If you care at all about light output or seeing at night, why would you consider putting a light blocking tint on your headlight lens?

well, according to TW member SWANK, commenting above, he stated "Yes the smoked tint on your third link will cut down some of the light, but not drastically. " which i have read on other forums looking at headlight general discussions.... not saying its a great idea. and thats definitely not what i want. if it cuts a bit, not drastically, then why not? but obviously now i am finding opposite posts regarding this topic which is def making me reconsidering this black smoke idea... looks nice but damn, not worth the light loss.

DO NOT order from protuninglab.com. I was going to, but before ordering from a newer unknown to me site, I always look for reviews on the BBB (Better Business Bureau) or google. Protuninglab is a bad company.

I made a post about this some time ago. Didn't pick up a whole lot of traction on it but I am definitely interested in getting a replacement pair. My stocks are toast at this point. 3 broken mounting points out of the 4 on both sides. Lol.

good looking out! thanks. i just linked them for the pics. a couple other sites are selling these also... (Edit: jesus 78 complaints on BBB haha)

MTopp, what kind of lights are you running? just a standard BLHM? they look similar to the PROs. and they don't look bad at all. not too chrome i mean..

I have a 2005, but these are depo black bezel headlights that I took apart and blacked out all the chrome. I have multiple sets of headlights, so if I need to work on a set, I just swap them out.

i am looking at Carid.com, they are showing the same lights (pictures) but linking Spyders name in there. i emailed them directly since i cant seem to find any 2014 Tacoma lights on spyders website. have always heard good things about Spyder. so ill post an update when i get a response.
