Ok, my truck is at the dealer right now.

    Year: 2011
    Model: 2.7l Regular Cab 4x4
    Miles: 49320

    Symptoms:
    • Tapping/Shuttering Noise when holding a steady speed @ 10 - 40 mph. (About 4 seconds into video below. This is when it first started, it is louder now)
    • Rough Idle
    • Burning Oil (4 quarts in about 1300 miles)
    • Lack of power taking off
    • Engine Check Light (code P0101)
    What I have done already:
    • Cleaned MAF Sensor thoroughly (Code P0101 came back after a day)
    • Replace PCV Valve (Code P0101 came back after a day again)
What Toyota told me today (10/06/2015):
    • I need a new MAF Sensor @ ~$220. Apparently they tested it and it is saying I am taking in more air than I actually am. I told them I would wait until they figured out the real problem.
    • Replace PCV Valve (I just did this and had told them I did this morning but there was a misunderstanding)
    • With news that there is already a new PCV valve, they want me to drive 100 miles and come back to figure out how much oil is burned.

I can see the cost of working with the dealership already adding up by making me come back and probably will charge me another $110 to look for the problem...again. Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have a loss of power since that noise started? .ore prevelant since it is louder now?

I had felt like the truck is weaker than normal when starting out but once I am moving I dont feel like there is a big loss. Picked the truck up from the dealer and they are pushing for warranty :woot:. They told me we just have to jump through the hoops.

I am still interested in what you guys have to say. The dealer isn't always the best at identifying problems.

Sounds like knocking to me. There are other things which could sound like knock as well though.

If it is rod knock, then you'll have low power on acceleration.

It could also be piston slap. That makes a bunch of racket. Lower power on acceleration as well.

Losing that much oil in that short period of time though.....either a really bad leak or you have a bad rings/ring lands/oil rings/scored cylinders.

    Worst case scenario. ;)

As far as the MAF, take it out in the advance auto parking lot, take it in, and buy a new one, with your old one its like $80. Only takes a Phillips head. Then when you buy it, pop it back in... As far as the rest, I can't help. Good luck
