For those of us who live where it snows, the cooler temperature of LEDs is a drawback -- it won't melt snow on the light in the winter. So in a snowstorm, you'll have to keep stopping and wipe the snow off your lights.

Being from Vegas, it's obvious we don't have this as an issue. And so I've never considered the physical temperature of headlights to play a role in safe driving. Fascinating!

It is an issue here where it snows. It is even a problem for traffic lights. The town that I live in has replaced the bulbs in some traffic lights with LEDs, due to the fact that they last longer and use less energy than incandescent bulbs. But when we have a blowing snowstorm, snow builds up in the traffic light, making it impossible to see. Then the highway department has to go out with a cherry picker and send a guy up to clean the snow off the traffic light (likely eliminating any savings). That isn't a problem with traffic lights that have incandescent bulbs -- the heat from the bulbs simply melts the snow that builds up in front of the lens.

    9 watts? 9 WATTS???

If these ever get near overheating they are trash. No LED that size should overheat at 9 watts.

Response from vendor about using Phillips H11 LEDs for headlights:

They are designed for fog light use only. I would not recommend those in a low beam headlight. I would suggest going with our XenonDepot H11 LED headlight kit instead. It will be brighter and function properly in a headlight.

With the new projector lens I doubt even the heat from the halogen bulb will transfer to the exterior of the headlight housing in order to melt off any snow accumulation. Best bet might be in that case to keep halogens in the high beams if you need to generate heat to melt the snow off the front. Just my two cents

I pulled the trigger and bought the headlight kit and fog lights. Xmas present for my truck. I'll update when I get them
