I rented the hatchback focus for a drive from SC to VA. It's not too bad once you get used to it. DEFINITELY lower than I'm used to now though.

I have mine a wash!



Used some tire shine to try and spruce it up a little.

 

Done changing the rear differential fluid and replacing the windshield wipers.

 

I did a serious upgrade to my jumper cables. Out with the POS old ones, and in with the high-quality new ones.

 

Yeah... Luckily! I came walking up and the police officer was already there with the driver and the owner of the other car she clipped pulling in.

Hopefully it'll only be a week in the Focus... That 33 mpgs is about the only thing I like about the rental so far!

I have that too. Dual battery, CTEK DC-DC charger / isolator, solar, etc. I'm not sure how much I have into my electrical upgrades, probably a little over $1K. It doesn't have to get that expensive, you can do it for cheaper, with cheaper components.

Quality costs money. The jumper cables are 13.5 lbs of copper, made in the USA, not Chinese garbage. And they will likely be the last jumper cables I ever buy. I could probably jump start big rigs, fire trucks, etc. with those.

 

Most booster cables on the market are CCA (copper clad aluminum), which substantially reduces cost. And the truth is, they will work just fine. It was somewhat difficult to find all copper booster cables. It was within the professional grade that I had to search. This was one of those areas of concern that during a real emergency, when I reach for the cables, I want to know I had the best I could buy at the time.
