I admit it, I was wrong; Gen 3 is awesome.

Plus, I think a 6k difference is an exaggeration, it's more like 4k.

I think you're right mine was listed at 36.5k but got it up to 41k after taxes, clear bra, and my 100k warranty

I'm a big fan of the 2nd gen look. The white 2nd gen next to the MGM 3rd gen above isn't the best comparison.... but since that's what you posted, I have to say the 3rd Gen's looks are destroying the 2nd gen.... the 2nd gen looks 20 years old and very compact car style-ish.

Where did you learn math? Tacoma values hold strong across all gens. 2004 first gens with 100+k are selling for $16k . A new gen won't make it more valuable all of a sudden. Op trading his perfectly good 2014 and paying close to msrp and 4K difference won't be made up later. He's already lossing some depreciation on his current truck and will on the 2016 later. Some people need to have the latest and greatest I guess. No vehicle is ever an investment and always always always a loss no matter what generation it is. It's about mitigating that loss. Lossing 2k in deprecation on 2014 then paying another 4K to move up is a big loss just to have another Tacoma

I didn't do any real math, so relax on the insults. I wasn't talking about the OP's situation (that's why I didn't quote him when responding), I was talking about buying a '15 over '16 based on a 4k difference. This isn't simply a year difference, like '12 to 13', this a new generation vehicle. In business theory it's fair to say the demand for an older generation product goes down when a new generation comes out. When demand goes down, price goes down. Yes, a truck is a bad investment anyway you cut it, but if the two choices are buying a new '15 or a new '16, most people would think the smarter financial move is to buy the '16... unless of course you can get a very major discount on the '15 (key word major).

You could buy a brand new 15 which is a good truck. Or buy a brand new 16 which is a better truck. Vehicles are terrible investments but I would rather go with the better truck.

If you keep it for 7-10 years, it's doubtful the 2016 is changed much by then. It should have all the kinks out.

...In a society where we always have to have the latest and greatest, the 'I must have the newest car' game is a dangerous one. If I stopped to think of all the money I've spent on new cars over my driving 'career', my house would probably be paid off. I'm driving this one into the ground....

The bed looks larger and the factory ride height looks higher as well. I guess I'll see one soon enough. Oh Canada, we're always last on lists, that shit just makes me pissed......:canada:

I think his old truck is a prerunner which is why the new one looked taller.

Ive never had a truck, and I am looking to keep my 2016 till 2026 or beyond...the only way to make sure that you get your money out of a purchase is to run it into the ground.

That's a pretty cool comparison tool. Interesting comparing the DC Sport to my DC PreRunner.

4" longer means it won't fit in my garage now.
