Hey there, I'm sorry if this isn't allowed, I searched for a designated area for these types of questions, or forum rules and didn't find anything. Feel free to delete if I'm violating a rule.

Basically I have to sell my 80 Toyota pickkup and my 85 4Runner. Problem is I haven't the slightest clue what to ask for them. I've searched forums, craigslist, ebay, auto trader sites, book values, etc. and I'm seeing just ridiculous variation, if I find any for sale at all. I don't want to be unreasonable, but if I have to sell them, I want as many bills as possible to cry in later. Any feedback appreciated. I know the 85 is the year everyone wants for the Runner, and apparently market value on the 79-83 pickups has gone up.

The 80 is 4x4 manual long bed, it has a new crate motor with under 1,000 miles on it, Weaber carb, k&n intake, HO distributor, a header, 5.29 gears, lift, rims, big AT tires, bucket seats, beefy custom grill. Body has dents and rust. Needs minor work like valve cover oil leak fixed, a few body pieces put back on or replaced, things like that but nothing major. A kid built it and then got shipped off. His dad sold it and wasn't quite sure what all is done. He seemed to think the motor was a 20r head/22r block, and the gears were Marlin. Also thought Marlin parts were in the tranny, but I can't verify any of that.

The 4Runner I bought blown. Rebuilt the motor with all high quality parts, it has just a few miles on it. I basically rebuilt it the same time as I bought a house. Had to leave it at my parents house 100 miles away. So since the rebuild it had the first oil change and been driven once. Other than that, I go fire it up and let it idle to operating temp when I'm there, check for leaks or issues and there are none that I can see. It has 5.29 gears and a trailtech locker in the back, lift, rims, tires. I also have a detroit locker that will go with it, as well as an extra tcase and driveshaft for a dual case set up. It has newer tacoma bucket seats, reupholstered and cleaned interior, really nice new sound system with upgraded speakers. Front and rear bumpers. Body has minimal rust but a few trail dents.

I'll put up a pic of each. I told a friend $3500 for the 4Runner, then I found out another friend has a stock 88 that he's selling for the same price, so am I too low, or is he too high? Feedback appreciated, thank you so much.

Here for a 79-83 $1200 -$3000+ poor to good condition. 85 4runner is $2500-$5000+ poor to good condition. All varying on location and mods good/bad. Those look pretty beat and some rust so I guess whatever the buyer is willing to pay and overlook. It's hard to sell a project so a stock unmolested rig will bring more in these years. IMO

Yeah, neither body is spectacular but they each have alot of money invested in motor/drivetrain parts. I was thinking about $2500 for the 80, and $3500 for the 4Runner. Do those numbers seem reasonable?

I guess it would depend on the demand in your area but I wouldn't go lower than $3,000 for the 4runner. I would price high on both and see what happens.

I live in the black hills, wheeling country so they are somewhat sought after. What would you consider to be a good starting price?
