I'm ready to throw down for some dedicated microfibers towels. Do any of you have any specific brands you like? I'd really like to get it done on Amazon if possible owing to the free prime shipping. I'd like to end up with 24 towels for Windows and 24-36 for detailing. That way I can just do one load of laundry at a time and get em all done.

Thanks guys. The yellow chem bros and costco towels were both on my list of options. Glad to have you confirm them.

Detailersdomain is where I get all of my stuff and have done so for the last 4+ yrs or so. Adams products, 1Z Einzett products, etc. I believe the microfiber towels are Adams but you'll have to check. Hope this helps

Thanks for the info as I haven't heard of any of this. I have been out of the detailing game since getting my Tacoma and leaving my Audi roots... I'll check out TRC as well.

Don't take my word for it though. I am a beginner. The guys on my forum started posting stuff from TRC so I grabbed a few. I have nothing to compare them to, just going off other online reviews. You can't go wrong with anything that Adams makes, but I am a fan of using several companies rather than being biased. I may have to try the costco stuff. I can tell you there is a difference between manufacturers. I've had low end stuff from places like Wal-mart before I knew any better.

Chemical guys is the better soap? I just use my regular soap (we actually make our own at home due to allergies, it is SUPER simple and SUPER cheap)!

I'm assuming TRC is "the rag company". Great info, guys. I've heard microfiber manufactured in Korea is superior to all others for some reason. Also saw that numbers like 70/30 and 75/25 signifying quality, though I don't know what it means.

Pretty sure some of the Adams towels if not all are sourced from TRC. If you can find TRC's equivalent to Adam's double soft, that would be the towel to get. I bought some from Chemical Guys and they sucked. Would not release any grit from the towel even after washing. No way am I spending time with tweezers and picking towels, so in the garbage they went. Yes, they were cheaper but not worth it. I threw some away after one use due to grit and debris.

Also, check origin of towels. The Korean towels are superior to the Chinese ones.

I kinda figured CG's were probably sourcing somewhere else and rebranding for more $$. I also questioned whether "super plush" in any brand might be bad for the reason you mentioned- trapping debris. In my experience, they don't have to be puffy to work well. In fact, I actually like the weight of my current cheap Walmart towels, I just don't like the material. I think it's just poor quality, but the light weight is fine because they don't trap micro-particles.

I don't think Adams gets their towels from TRC...

    Some may find this interesting:

    http://www.autopia-carcare.com/comparing-microfiber.html

    http://www.carwashmag.com/issues/feb-2011/detail-management.cfm

    http://www.incrediblydetailed.com/microfiber-manifesto-everything-need-know-microfiber-towels/

This is worth noting (if you're as OCD as I am when researching products):
"For the most part, all microfiber yarns start out as a blend of 70% polyester and 30% polyamide. For most microfiber products (not waffle weave) the microfiber yarn is woven through a polyester backing (ground), at this point the composition of the product is closer to 80% polyester and 20% polyamide, because you have to add in the 100% polyester backing. Some factories will call this fabric 70/30 and some 80/20."

Also this (I've read Korean is the best, but this lays that to rest):
"The other common question about microfiber products is with regards to the country of manufacture. Most microfiber towels are made in Korea or China, with some now made in Pakistan, Indonesia, and Vietnam. A decade ago Korea was pretty much the only place where microfiber was manufactured (along with some in Japan), only a small amount was made in China, but the quality was very poor. In the last few years many Chinese factories have made leaps and bounds in manufacturing processes and quality control. The bottom line is that now-a-days there are high and low quality products coming out of both Korea and China. Often times, as is the case with many of our products, the fabrics are made in Korea, then sent to China to be cut and sewn, where the labor is less expensive, and labeled "Made in China".

So there you have it! The bottom line is that you should not judge a microfiber product by its label. The labels are often incorrect or misleading, and you should not base your buying decisions on the information on the label. There are other more important factors that go into the quality of a product, or the appropriateness of the product for a particular cleaning task."
