I was wondering if bearings from the carrier and pinnion can be salvaged. I ask because one of the first things I plan on doing is regearing as the stock gears on larger tires will not be very clutch friendly. The bearings aint cheap and it seems like the new bearings that are currently in the tacoma would be a waste. Most of the methods I've seen tend to damage the bearings so I"m curious if perhaps there is bearing friendly method of removing the the bearings so I can reuse them.

You can reuse them. Have to use the right tool to press them off as to not damage the cage

You got any recommendations on tools or tips?

I've read these things can still damage the cage and I havn't really seen any other tool that seems plausible.

    Theres this thing...

But it's 400 dollars and I'm trying to figure out if there is a cheaper, but still safe method of doing it. It is an appealing option nontheless because 2 bearing kits will pay for this thing and it's a life time tool thats compatible with a lot of axles.

Still though.. any cheaper methods? lol

Both of those will work although the last one is not necessary most of the time. Take a look at this link, it will show you some good info those tools you mentioned are included.
