I've been thinking about doing this as well. Did you sand blast the wheels first? I have some old 3 spoke wheels that are corroded and I'm planning on sand blasting them painting or plastidipping them bronze and using them as my winter tire wheels.

    Nicely done btw!

Tried my hand at plastidipping My emblems. Forest time using this. Turned out awful. I'll keep it on until I redo it.

How'd you lay the coats on? Light and smooth over works best for me

I have always been told that light does not equal smooth with plastidip. Per the instructional videos you have to put on a thick coat for it to turn out smooth otherwise you end up with a texture. :notsure:

I do a very thin/light first coat and then wait about 15 seconds and follow it up with a heavy/thick coat. Wait another 15 seconds and finish it off with one more thick one. That should be fine for your badges, I did more coats for my scoop and valence.

Okay I waited 30 Minutes between coats as that's what the instructions said.

Plastidip takes <15min to dry. You should be done with the whole thing under 5min from start to finish.

@Overkill07 My roommate taped his emblems off like you, didn't turn out well. The plasti dip pulled off the emblem with the tape... I taped a square/rectangle around my emblems, leaving approximately an inch and a half of space between the emblems and the tape. It will come right off your paint, no need to tape off so precisely..it actually makes it hard, and will pull the plastidip off your emblems when the tape is removed.plasti.jpg image1.jpg

Dipped my badges and chrome surround last weekend. Def have to leave a gap around it to peel off the paint. Had no issues with it pulling off the badge with that...and don't forget some toothpicks!

Yep, pulled off the badge. Around the top the most. I'll have to try again when I get some more time.

The tailgate started peeling off in a spot, and now it's growing. I can't decide to respray or peel it off. I like how it looks other than the blue fuzz from the car wash that always gets stuck to it.

I'll be doing mine when my Tacoma comes in next month. I've never done it either but there's a few good videos on Youtube. You need to leave about an inch around the badges so the plastic dip doesn't grab onto the lettering.
