I test drove a double cab, long bed SR5 today. First, I'll echo what others have: the fit and finish is impressive. Definitely felt better put together than either the Canyon or Colorado. It also didn't feel as "big", either. The seat fits me pretty well...I am 5'7", with a longer upper torso. No sunroof in this, but it looked like I had a good 3 or 4+ inches of head room, and I wasn't struggling to see over the hood. It was akin to me looking over the hood of my Mustang. The rear seats were comfortable for me, very much, in fact. Of course, my legs are shorter than most people's. The engine compartment is roomy: there is far more room between the engine and supporting components than in other vehicle

The big thing that I wanted to say is this: I do see what people are talking about the "gear hunting" that occurs with acceleration. The comparison to the Colorado and Canyon, though, is this: they do exactly the same thing. My biggest complaints with the two of them is this very thing: the transmission seems to hunt at times for where it wants to be. So, to me, this is not either a positive or negative for either side: it is a draw. They both do it. I echo what others said, that it seems like the truck is more responsive in ECT mode. However, the truck did seem a bit more responsive at the first tap of the gas than the twins. Here is hoping that the truck eventually "learns" what you want it to do, as others have said.

Overall, I am still going to buy my Tacoma. It simply fits what I want better than the Canyon and Colorado. Having never owned Chevy, GMC, or Toyota, nor even owned a truck before...I thought that I would at least have a somewhat less biased opinion on this than a loyal Toyota fan.

I believe the gear hunting is more of how the transmission is setup to maximize MPG by the EPA. If you select the ACT Power mode, it behaves more like it should allowing the engine to go higher in RPM before shifting getting more out of the gears.

I agree, this is exactly what is happening. It is going to be more pervasive in most vehicles from now on.

By the way, here is the one that I took for a drive. The picture isn't that great, but that's because I just pulled my phone out and snapped it...I wanted to get to driving!

I really like this trim/model/and color! I had a 2009 access cab 4x4 sr5, I was curious what size and brand are these stock tires on the 2016's?

This has the 16" silver allow wheels. I want to say they are Bridgestone. I will look tomorrow.

why would you do that? the nfabs are not much better. and you definitely cant use either for off road since the steps stick out too far for taking any hits. they rip off just the same :)

Just not a fan of them for some reason. Anyhow, after climbing in and out a bunch yesterday and today I'm noticing that I am stepping right past them as opposed to my friends '05 Tundra that has nfabs and I find myself using those. Almost identical height and stuff on the trucks. I'll have to do a side by side comparison but if I am not going to use them I will just pull them off and not replace them. If the nfabs will work better for me then I will get those to destroy instead :)
