    Greetings all,

New to TW here, been reading a lot of threads all over the site the past few days and decided to make an account.

Im currently on the look out for a midsize to small truck and so far the tacoma is leading the pack, hoping to find one for $8000 or under, mostly searching craigslist and other local places. Trying to find a 4x4 with either an access cab or 4 door cab, not really picky on the mileage or exterior/interior cosmetic condition, just hoping to find one that runs smooth and has working 4wd.

Current DD is a 2015 mustang, love it and will probably keep it until it explodes from too much boost.

Hoping to join the Tacoma owners club soon, just gotta find the right price on the right truck.

pretty much any year, i like the 1st gen and 2nd gen, theres a few 2007-2009 models on my local craigslist for under $8000 but they look like they have been rollovers or other damage, if they turn out to be non expensive repairs with minor mechanical problems i wouldnt mind putting the time into making them run again, i dont mind cosmetic damage though i would try to repair them as best as possible for cheap lol. Also quite a few 1997 to around 2004 models going for cheap here, most of them 250k+ miles but i know toyota engines go on forever, my gfs camry just passed 300k this week and still drives like the day it was new. Wish i could say that about my past fords....

The early Tacomas had frame rust issues, so be sure to check that. I don't think $8k is going to get you into a double cab 4wd Tacoma. I sold my 2003 double cab Tacoma that had a rebuilt title for $16k. Depending on your intended purpose, you may also consider an extended cab Toyota pickup, which was the Tacomas predecessor. Excellent trucks, though less powerful powertrains than the Tacoma.

Those both look like scams. It will be unlikely to find even a 2001 gen1 Tacoma double cab for under $10k.
