So true. I have graduated from Tacoma love to Hilux envy. All I want is a small truck that is a Truck. Instead the truck keeps getting bigger and heavier with more gadgets ... but less capable. Compared to my 2003 (as stock) the new ones have 2" less ground clearance and less payload ... but I can wirelessly charge my phone!

I don't fault Toyota for offering a vehicle to the masses ... but then let me buy a Hilux in the states ... or stop my 2003 from rusting out.

I have the same gripe about 4x4s from all manufacturers. Some will have a tire they call an AT but with whimpy tread. When I bought my 2001 f150 4x4 I tried to get the dealer to swap out tires. They wanted a grand and I told them to stick it. Fortunately I had another use for the stock tires so just took to tire store and swapped with my other truck.

I feel the same way. It is the truck of choice for insurgents the world over for a reason. Though after looking into Hilux for a while, I ran into some Aussies that say a lot of them have Taco envy because it's modern/comfortable etc. I guess the grass is always greener.

For my daily driver, I would rather have a Taco. For off-roading or farm/utility/small work truck, Hilux all the way.

Ok, back to Gen 3 tires.

Interesting, I just priced out the exact size tires at my local Discount tire and I'm looking at $1057 out the door, mounted and balanced on just the 4. This include the tire warranty, but that only an additional $117. What Discount shop are you getting five for $724?

Hankook? I'd have those off the truck before I got it home.

They price matched 4wd.com. Discount tire here in Colorado Springs. Make sure they use the price for all five when added to the cart.

We'll be upgrading to a set of Baja ATZ p3 most likely or the k02. The cooper is pretty much the same as the ATZ. These are my choices to look at so far bases off reviews. Just boils down to pricing as I'm sure any will suffice for what I need.
