Be very carefull first time you try to install 'em. They are a little bit difficult to get all 6 of the spring loaded tabs started into the rim. I broke 2 tabs off the 2nd one I tried to put in. Good thing I ordered 5! Once in, they're fine. I even got brave and took one back off and re-installed it. 2nd time they go in just fine.

Just make certain all the tabs are squeezed in to where they will end up inside the boss' on the rims....You'll see what I'm talking about when you start to put the first one in. I'm thinking it might be helpful to put a drop of some sort of lube on the tabs so they slide in easier.

I used the spring retainers from the stock caps and didn't have any issues fitting the caps.

They are really hard to get on, specially when you first do it. You're giving up?

How much material did you cut off with the dremel tool, maybe you need to cut a little more.

Ay chance you can show a picture of them AFTER you cut off the pieces that have to be cut? They can be a bitch to get on the first time.

Hope this helps you out on the install. I used the spring retainer from my old caps in the FJ ones because they are thinner, I also left the spring retainer loose inside the cap and they pushed in pretty easily, after they were in place I reached in from the back side to pull the retainer in the lock tabs.

When I was installing mine for the first time, I kept a thin straight screwdriver handy. I used it to press a few of the tabs in to where they cleared the machined boss inside the rim. I also used a bit of dry slide lube. I broke 1 tab on 2 different caps. But they haven't caused any problems once in place. Since then, I've had the caps off and back on 3 times. By the second time, they would almost fall in place. Once you have 'em on, you'll forget all about the difficulties. They look so damn good! A little secret for anyone else thinking of ordering these.....Buy 5, and don't panic when one breaks. And now I have a spare.

Murphy's second law; If you have spare parts, you'll never need them. Don't have spares and you're a lock to need 'em very soon.

Try warming up the tabs a little with a hair dryer. It should make them a little more flexible and less likely to break.

Mine were on for about 6 months with just the plastic tabs- no metal retainer spring. Never lost one. I don't use them any more though...
