    hi all

I"ve been getting excellent advice on another thread concerned my wife's 2002 taco (thanks again everyone). I'm not sure if this is acceptable forum etiquette but I thought I would start this thread not to continue to diagnose the issue but to pose a specific question.......

    a brief summary:

    2002 taco 2wd 2.7 automatic.
    runs fine
p0302 code since last week and it's flashed a few times briefly.
not actually misfiring or running rough in any way. ides fine. starts fine. has normal power.
mpg down a bit but that could easily be a factor of a sadly long delayed basic service and nearly one year of questionable gas here in mexico.
compression is good on all 4
has new plugs (and oil/filters etc), moved coils and injectors around to see if code followed but it stayed on #2
going to see an electrician today but if he can't figure it out.....

    the big question is......

my wife is supposed to drive this truck back to the US in a few days (2000 or so miles). given the above info regarding what we do know about the condition of the truck what would you do?

let her make the drive or not?

she has to get back for work/family stuff so the only alternative is for her to fly back and buy another vehicle (but $$ is tight and the idea of her buying a used car on her own makes my head hurt).

any and all opinions VERY much welcome. thanks!!

You have a few days. Why not fix or get a garage to fix.

OP, you don't give your location, but I'm assuming by your post that you're located in central Mexico.

I'd have to ask myself which is the bigger headache? Popping for an expensive airline ticket when money is tight and having your wife buy a car on her own, or, driving 2000 miles on her own when you have a potential problem that may cause her to break down somewhere that could possibly be out in the middle of nowhere.

I feel for you, chances are nothing would happen, but personally I think it's a risk to let her drive it alone. You will get others opinions on what to do as well. There are many things that can cause that error code, hopefully you can get it resolved and everything will work out for you guys. Sorry I can't be more helpful. And welcome to TW forum.

    hey guys thanks!!

I've been at the mechanics the last few days working on it. lots of head scratching. today I go to an electrician to check all the wiring harnesses to the coils and injectors.

we've already pushed the drive back and could push it a bit more time but only a few more days.

we're down in southern baja about 1000 miles to the border then another 1000 to go in the US.

fwiw my wife has made the drive on her own more than a few times. she's perfectly capable and I know she could handle dealing with whatever mechanics she would find along the way but still, not ideal.
