Could you please fold back the tonneau cover and take some pictures of the way posts protruding from the bed, and the way it latches to the post? Thanks

Today I shaved all the badges except for the "Tacoma" badge, which I Plasti Dipped satin black. I had the Toyota black 5" step tubes and bed extender installed on Wednesday. Week after next I'm having the chrome on the mirrors, door handles, and the grille and dog light surrounds wrapped in satin black vinyl, and the front Toyota badge wrapped in a black brushed metallic vinyl. I'll post pics when done.

Hopefully this sparks someone else's creativity for their taco.

That stuff works great- just like the video. I only shaved the badges I didn't want (Limited, 4x4, V6). A plastic toothpick was very handy for the tight spots.

And it stays on going through like a gas station car wash? If so that is awesome and easy. Sorry I should probably have done a search here before asking questions

Funny you should ask- I just ran it through the high pressure car wash at my local Toyota dealership. I checked right after I got out- no issues. Look on YouTube- the guy from dipyourcar.com has posted tons of instructional videos.

Karben4, how are you liking your limited after a few weeks now? Pros/cons?
I just dropped 500 at the dealership yesterday reserving my MGM Limited, should take an estimated 12 weeks to get here, long time to wait.

One month and 1800 miles later, it's going to sound corney, or too much like a Toyota commercial, but I have never owned a better vehicle in my life-- and I might be a lifetime Tacoma driver, and probably a lifetime Toyota convert in general.

I give myself an internal fist-bump every time I climb in the truck. I have ran errands, taken work trips with three passengers (some over 6' tall-- no problems), hauled kegs, hauled tarps of leaves, hauled construction materials (including 4x8 sheets of plywood), just took a family road trip this past weekend with 2 car seats and the dogs (tight but comfy fit)....I just love what I can accomplish with this truck.

I LOVE the JBL system. Sound quality is great for both hard & loud and talk radio. I'm definitely keeping the XM Radio subscription. The navigation is great and not annoying. I love the 4" info screen. I especially love how much customization you can do on all the screens: how many tiles, which info is displayed, etc. I appreciate the fuel efficiency displays. I love the ride height: I don't have to climb in or jump out, and I can still see over other cars great. The turning radius is unexpectedly tight- great for Home Depot parking lots. Seats are comfortable- except for the head rest. Toyota has that forward protruding rest that makes me want to turn it around. Good placement of storage- arm rest, under seats, in the bed.

I honestly don't have much to bitch about yet, if at all. If I were forced to create a complaints or concerns list:

    1. I don't like the head rest
    2. Power seats would be nice, but I'm not going to cry about it
    3. There is this whistling vibration at 80mph (or 65 plus winds) in my driver's side A-pillar that I am having looked at- I think it is just a loose mounting or gasket that will be fixed easily
    4. One of my passenger tail lights burned out- I'm hoping it's just a poorly manufactured bulb and not a faulty wiring harness or circuit that is rearing its ugly head
    5. BIGGEST and maybe the only true gripe: The smart key system was only put into the driver's side handle, and NOT both front handles as the owner's manual says. WTF???? When I have my family- my wife and I with a kid in each of our arms, and I want to let them in first I have to fish out my keys and use the fob or go to my door to open it and then unlock everything. They should have out them in both front handles. Having said that, I still LOVE the system and am usually by myself, so it doesn't affect me on a daily basis.

What I did to customize my truck: I hate chrome, so everything I did is in relation to that.

    1. Shaved all the badges, except for the "Tacoma" badge- which I plastidipped black
    2. Had the chrome trim on the front grille, fog lights, mirrors and door handles wrapped in black satin vinyl
    3. Plastidipped black the center of the grille (I'll probably just buy an SR grille)
    4. Plastidipped the rims
    5. Installed the side steps, black of course

I hope the wait doesn't kill you! If you have any other specific questions, I would be more than happy to help.

I just got the same truck in quicksand... going to black out all the chrome as well.

In regards to the 4x8 wood... I am looking to add a lumber rack, but the bed cover has a latch system that will be in the way of the Rack-it lumber rack I used on my old Tacoma. Any body add a rack to the limited yet?

Can you elaborate on what you mean by this:
    2. Had the chrome trim on the front grille, fog lights, mirrors and door handles wrapped in black satin vinyl

Did you spray paint them with something equivalent to plastic dip?

Nice job on the blackout stuff. I'm not a big fan of chrome either, but I think the only really "offensive" part is the mirrors. The rest of the pieces are pretty small, and even the wheels are only partially chrome, so I think I could live with those. I'd probably have the mirrors either wrapped or painted body color.

As for the middle part of the front grille, I have yet to see a Limited in person, but isn't the middle part of the Limited grill pretty close to the MGM color to begin with? From the pictures it looks like a shiny dark grey and looks like it would blend pretty good with an MGM truck.

The website states heated power seats on the Limited. Is this false information?
