What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Like I said. One isn't going to be a problem. A blinker won't that's for sure.

I was just clarifying the statement that LEDS are cool. Because they aren't always.

But a blinker will be fine

 

I'm installing the Fumoto valve on the next oil change. They sent me a promo code if anyone else is interested.

BTW. I wouldn't really recommend this mod unless your skid plate covers the oil pan and the valve.

Why do you say that?

 

You're effectively dropping the drain plug an inch or so and it sticks out waiting to get hit by rocks.

Plus if you dont have a skid getting to your plug isn't difficult. Fumoto is basically a shutoff valve which makes is great for those who have skids who would normally have to drop them to get to the drainplug.

 

Alright thanks, might just do the fog light mod today then see if the LEDs I have are bright enough to see during the day.

 

Ah I see that makes sense. My skid has a hole cutout for easy access to the drain plug that's why I've never bought one

I like the valve because it allows you to drain a small sample of oil for testing. Or if you overfill you can drain a bit out. Also it allows you to do the oil change when the engine is HOT!!!

Edit: Just be sure to buy a couple of extra washers. The threaded portion of the valve is longer than the thickness of the pan and will cause some oil to be left in the pan if you don't have the extra washers. Alternatively you could probably shorten the threaded stem on a grinder.

 

Mine does to, but I don't like getting oil all over the top side of the skid and dripping all over town. I drop my skid everytime and it takes longer to do that than to change the oil.

 

I haven't changed the oil with my skid yet I need to within the next 800 miles or so

 

Getting oil all over your undercarriage helps protect against rust.

 

Drop the skid on one piece on your chest/knees, and when goign back in, let it rest on your knees/chest while you position it to start the bolts back in. The frton has tabs to hang while you start a couple in front, then push the back up and start a couple there. Does not take long at all. Never take the two parts of the skids apart, PITA.

 

Where did the bumper come from, cant find one for a fist gen on their site?

So finally caught up on about 20 pages of reading to kill shift time.

What is that cleaner y'all use for the engine bay, simple green or something green? Want to get it cleaned up and detailed before the s/c goes in and the new H/O alt.

 

What would you guys recommend for an air intake system other than factory and k&n? Rock ripper any good? 3RZ

 

I don't know about the 3rz but I liked Airaid as well as aFe

 

Something mild probably like Simple Green. Then some kind of under hood Armor All type stuff for all the plastic.

 

What would be the bad part about installing one of these when I clean my throtte body? And would it actually help like they say?

Simple Green works great. Just don't let it sit on aluminum or paint for very long before rinsing. It can etch aluminum. Also Purple Power from Walmart works well. Same cautions.
