My take is this. We own a Venza and a Taco. Truck people expect to sit more upright.....but most cars are reclined more for aerodynamics. The Tacoma is a compromise of low center of gravity and a lower roofline and 9.5 inches of ground clearance. So, by necessity the cab is more squat and driver and passenger sit as they would in a sedan. It is no more or less uncomfortable and raising your seat, while good for shorter people, creates no advantage with the loss of head room for drivers. The solution is obvious. A cheap, manually adjustable mechanism so the seats...both of them, could be raised the appropriate amount to satisfy drivers. Toyota IMHO, is loosing sales ( which is not a big deal considering how many they sell) by not having one.

OP, I share your feelings about the seating position. I am 6 ft, and under my knees are not supported by the seats (end of thighs). The solution for me, would be to raise the front of the seat only, to create a slight recline to the seat. That should help quite a bit, but the front mounting bolts are on an angle, not flat, which poses some difficulty. If anyone has a solution, chime in!

I've wondered the same thing. There is just something about Toyota's seat : peddles : steering wheel distance ratio that doesn't work for me. Sitting in one for a while is the only time I ever have back pain. It was bad enough I traded in my loved taco... For the enemy. I saw a 2016 today, and I'm really hoping they've changed something. I would trade this Chrysler product in tomorrow without a second thought if they finally made the taco for average Americans!

This seems to be the biggest complaint about this truck. No seat height adjustment. It's just stupid not to have it. A mechanical mechanism with a lever can't cost $50. The truck would fit so many more potential buyers if it did.

Wife'sVenza has power seats that adjust every way imaginable and would work fine in manual form in a Taco. They are so good I plan to include them in my casket.....in the reclining position of course.

As for GM comparisons, even WITH their seat adjustment, the things were causing issues with my lower back. In the Tacoma with limited adjustment, it felt fine. Can't say why...

I'm not sure where this is coming from. There have been several reviews staying its exactly the same and I've been in the truck and noticed zero difference.

I agree on this, some of the reviews have stated its slightly higher, seems the same to me. I honestly think just increasing the height of the front of the seat would go a long way to increasing comfort. There must be a fairly simple solution to this, come on people, start brain storming!

I always sit pretty near straight up, so maybe that accounts for why they work just fine for me.

Good for you. Not everyone is lucky enough to be that tall. Forgive us for wishing Toyota had given a thought to the subject.

This is one review. I've seen others say it's a little higher too. Whether it feels that way or not, I can't say personally. I haven't sat in one yet.

The 2016 truck's seat bottom is higher off the floor than before and doesn't lift my knees up, which helps accentuate the feeling of newfound height. Photographer William Walker, at a huskier 6-foot-2, has to recline the seatback more than normal to help clear his head. We concur the tilt/telescope steering wheel doesn't tilt nearly high enough." -- Motor Trend

It should be clear that the non-moonroof version has plenty of room for a 6'2" guy.

It is starting to look like moon-roof could be a deal breaker for some taller people.

It isn't an issue for me (no tech and I'm shorter anyway), but Toyota really needs to make the moonroof a standalone option on future models.
