I struck a deal and dropped a deposit on an Off-Road DCSB last weekend and I have yet to receive an anticipated build date. When I asked about this yesterday, they told me Toyota only takes orders on the 1st and 15th...Is there any merit to this? It seems somewhat odd that in 2015, a vehicle manufacture limits the timing of product orders.

Any guidance would be appreciated...I am getting antsy!

They don't take orders from my understanding they have a pre-selected allocation of vehicles coming to their region and the dealer will have to pull or trade with another dealer from those incoming pre-planned to be built vehicles

THIS ^^^^^^^^^ is exactly how I got my "order" Dealer had to find one with my build ,snag it, and mark it sold.

This was easier to do before dealers had stock. Now it's tough because the truck is selling and dealers don't really want to let go of their incoming stock. Especially those that are more rare like mine 2WD P&T w/JBL ,towing and NOTHING else. And those that are especially rare like combos LBs, Manuals, etc.

There is an allocation sheet floating around here. Some combos are just not being built

Took me over a month to get a build date, and I still have to wait until Christmas for my truck. Not uncommon at all.

My dealer just took one of his allocations that was awaiting build, submitted a change request to Toyota with my specs and received approval the next day. Dunno how rare it is. DCLB 4x4 TRD Sport with Premium & Tech, no JBL, Towing and nothing else, no floor mats. Ill buy my own door sill protectors and Huskliners. Not paying $200 for floor mats that are going to sit in my garage. Build date 10/15

the region my dealer is in can only submit allocations certain day of the week/month. then again they are NOT an exclusive Toyota only dealer so I don't know if they have different rules than an exclusive Toyota only gets. I do know they get less allocation slots than the other dealer near me that only sells Toyota's.

Don't blame you they tried to hit me for 3k more for Viper security system w/o recovery option ,chrome steps and tailgate lock. I purchased all of these items a little over $400 and installed them myself. The recovery option depends on what type you want, like Lojack, etc.

The only thing I can tell you is in the order form and Bill of sale S P E L L O U T EXACTLY what items you want on your vehicle. Especially Wheels and Tires. Don't just settle for wording like alloy wheels. State brand, of tire and size same for wheels. Example BF Goodrich all terrain KO, P 265 70 R18. Make sure what evertire you get the cold inflation sticker on driver side door matches that specific tire. That's federal law.

Did your build date get bumped? They usually hit the lot within two weeks of the build date. Where are you located

Not that I know of. I stopped by the dealer today. Print out said 9/14 build date. Eta. 11/17. Also, we looked at another truck identical to mine with the same build date arrived at a dealer not far away. The dealer wouldn't trade with us though. South Carolina.

That's really odd. Maybe they shipped it the wrong place. I would have them get me one from another dealer but they said they would have to drive it from one place to another...no thank you

There is some truth to that. Allocation comes every two weeks, which means when we request an order we hope that it will be on our upcoming dealer allocation.

That is some what true. We can take special orders, that just takes a really long time, so 90% of the time we go the route you mentioned.
