I have to replace the complete rear driveshaft in my 2004. The used assembly I bought was removed from a donor truck by the junkyard mechanic in one piece. It looks brand new with nice tight U-joints and a good center bearing.

My question is..... Is there a special way to install and align or index this driveshaft to my vehicle? I have always marked a driveshaft when I removed it so it went back in the exact position. There aren't any markings as to how this one came out of the old truck so I don't have any reference as to how it should go in my truck. Does it even matter?

    Thanks, Jay

I've always marked mine but never replaced one but theres only 4 bolts on each end, so rotation, drive, turn shaft until you don't feel any vibes.

it shouldn't matter at all, the critical part is when replacing u-joints then you have to be dead certain to put them back in the right orientation because sometimes the yokes are slightly offset and only go one way

Yes, all weights are on it. I am going to assume the center bearing or U_joints have never been apart, so mounting it any way won't matter. Thank's for the replies.....Jay
