3rd Gen. Manual Transmission Options?

Why is the manual transmission on these an extremely limited option?

Test drove a silver DCSB TRD Sport with the new 3.5 and a six speed today, and it was quite impressive. So much so I'm considering looking into a Tan/Sand 3.5l v6 AC with a manual transmission, but it looks like that is only offered in a five speed.

Now what happens if someone wanted a DCLB with a manual, or an access cab with a six speed, are we SOL?

 

I'm looking for the same configuration as you. AC with V6 and manual. I'm guessing we will have to pay up and get the ugly chrome grill sport or underpowered SR I4.

 

No DCLB manual

 

Toyota hasn't made a DCLB manual... ever as far as I know. It certainly wasn't available in second gen trucks.

 

That, and the classic dash parking brake handle is now a lever mounted between the front two seats on the center console. Not sure if that's because of the DCSB though. Waiting for the dealer to get a manual access cab in so I can take it for spin and look it over.

Haha. They never made one. I contacted Toyota via email and basically told them they need to bring back the AC TRD OR Manual... also I recommended they bring a Manual DCLB to the table... I doubt we will make a difference contacting them, but better than remaining silent.

Maybe it's too soon to consider trading in the 'ol five speed AC 2.7 '13.
Really like the idea of the new v6, but the lack of manual trimmed versions really stinks.
Who knows, maybe they'll bring more power train options in the next few years... Cough, Diesel!, Cough Cough...

Still plan on test driving the five speed '16 AC V6 in Sandstorm whenever it arrives at the dealer.

 

The reason they are so limited is because nobody buys them.

V6 with a 5 speed manual? Did you see that on the toyota configurator website? They do have a 5 speed manual listed for the AC TRD Sport but it's a typo. They'll probably fix it some day. Also both the manual and the auto have 6 speeds so when you say 6 speed its ambiguous.

To answer your last question, you can get an Access cab 6MT V6 in the TRD Sport trim. As others have pointed out, the long wheelbase is not available with a manual transmission.

 

Yea the five speed was on Toyota's web page for the AC, but the DCSB said it was a six speed.

I picked up my DCSB Sport with manual 6 today. 340 mile drive home dodging deer and out-of-state hunters.

 

How is the reverse configuration? push down, slide all the way the right, then go up or go down?
Trying to buy a hurst shifter for my DC 6speed manual that's currently on the slow boat heading to Kauai... Auriiiiii
