Customer brought in cookies for us in the service department to celebrate the Mets getting into the playoffs... I don't know if it's just me being spoiled by New England teams that always make the playoffs, or if it's because all NY teams suck, but it's so dumb. They had the champagne and shit celebrating making the playoffs as if they won the world series

It's been a rough decade or two for NY sports fans, though. They used to absolutely dominate in pretty much all of the sports, and the last 20 years or so they've seen their teams fizzling out (or dropping flat on their faces) before the playoffs. So they've got good reason to get excited when they make the playoffs now.
You're too young to remember it, but back in the Early 2000's when the Pats and the Sox first started winning we all used to get excited about making the playoffs.

We'd more get into it back then like he said. The Yankees are always in the mix but the Mets have been god awful for so long. The worst part of being a Mets fan is having to see the crosstown rivals doing so well while you're in the gutter.

They just need something to get excited about living down there. I mean, living in NYC, you need a LOT of little things to get you out of that slump

Not a huge sports fan, but I'm not a NYC sports fan at all,'specially being so close to the city.
I'm really diggin the Pats success in recent years as they have been "my team" since the pre-Grogan days.

Yeah, whenever the GF and I hit the Old Port it's always a debate on where we want to go. Or if we want to ditch the OP and hit The Great Lost Bear instead. :D

Sorry if this sounds like bragging but I'm really proud of my hard work. I took my 63 Falcon to two judging car shows this year and both times came home with a trophy. Here's today's:
    image.jpg

This one is an honor as its from a club that is quite selective. For this club to give you a trophy, you have to have built it and drive it (no trailering). I may have already mentioned this in a previous post - there's a straight 6 with an Offenhauser triple carb intake under the hood backed by a T5 5speed with a relatively stock looking shifter. What you see there was all done by me except the actual squirting of the paint. The only panel that didn't need much work was the trunk lid. New quarters & floor, front fender & door corners, etc... New top & interior. The list goes on & on. This winter's list is an 8"rear and 5 lug front end with disc brakes. Maybe, just maybe, some air bags too.
