Not sure how you did that math... price difference between V6 and Diesel is 3,700 and in that price it includes exhaust braking and integrated trailer brake controller...

I do agree with your other points...

Sloppy investigating. That was 2015 gas vs 2016 diesel. Did more research. Found this. It's a $1300 upgrade. But still how much will it cost to replace the motor in 10 years gas vs diesel? Bet diesel is 2 or 3 times more expensive. Turbos go out. Those are expensive. To much to deal with when Toyota's are already reliable and hold their resale.

There. $3,700 more expensive right off the bat. Not including 10 years worth more expensive maintenance. No thanks. Now wrap all my posts into one thought and that's what I think lol

If a diesel were just a $1300 upgrade on any model Colorado, Chevy might sell four or five v6 gas powered trucks.

HAHA my buddy bought a 2002 Tacoma for $7k used, drove it for 4 years and brought it to Toyota with limited rust on the frame and they gave him $14.5 K to buy the truck back. Another buddy of mine had a 2001 with 250k and it was beat to crap. The dealership gave him $13k buy back value towards the trade in towards a brand new one back in 2009. Dodge would never do anything like this, plus they would go bankrupt in the process. Obviously everything has maintenance throughout the life of the truck but that isn't what we are talking about. What you pay for the overall life off the truck, Toyota has the best resale, reliability, and overall performance.

I really like this Diesel Colorado, but I also really like my Sierra.

Won't be in the market any time in the near future because I've just bought my Sierra, but if I was shopping today....it would be a hard choice between a diesel midsize or a gas fullsize.

On the one side, the gas fullsize tows more and hauls more, and still gets good fuel economy (18-20 mpg).

On the other side, the diesel midsize tows enough and hauls enough that those shortcomings might be overlooked in favor of 25-30 mpg.

Maybe my Sierra will get totaled in some accident and then I'll have the opportunity to make this exact choice.

However, having had two 2nd gen Tacomas, I won't ever go back to a gas midsize. I don't understand the appeal of midsize capability combined with fullsize gas mileage (or worse, in the case of the Taco).

Does GM have a separate warranty that covers the diesel emissions equipment or does it fall under the default bumper-to-bumper or powertrain or something?

Toyota trucks, both v6 Taco and Tundra v8s have lagged behind in gas consumption compared to offerings by both Chevy and Ford. But, neither Chevy or Ford has competed in the midsize truck line till recently. So comparing apples to apples is impossible. Midsize trucks in general can't compare to full size in overal value but the Taco crowd is not looking for the same vehicle as tha Sierra or f150. I literally can't park a full size truck, an SUV we own and my tractor in the same parking area.....so I am a midsize truck owner. And until the Colorado has completed 5 to 10 years of product quality equal to a Taco, it's better mileage is irrelevant compared to potential repair bills.

I've been able to parallel park my F250 downtown several times. I can get it in most places. The buggest problem I have with the parking garages is ass holes parking me in.

Some spots can be tight so I see why bigger vehicles can be a pain. But is the F150 really much larger than a 4Runner? I've never looked but the 4Runner is pretty big

F150 can also come with park assist, which allows it to park itself in any parallel spot it can fit. The 4Runner cannot do that.

28 MPG on the Manhattan to Beacon is absolutely crazy impressive. Gas truck would be lucky to get 11 MPG's. Just Manhattan traffic than 87 allway pass GWB is going to be stop and go any part of the day and thats 5-9 MPG on the good day Since truck is rolling on 1st or 2nd gear for miles.
So 28 Mpg is crazy impressive. Heck I don't get that on CRV.
With Diesel price the same as regular fuel that is a good commuter truck than.

Damn Wachuko, good for you, Hopefully your diesel is now on the way. Keep us posted, the good and the bad.
My brother has a Fiat 500 Abarth. One of the funnest cars I've ever driven. Exhaust note, sounds like a mini Ferrari.

How's that request for polite conversation workin for ya?

BTW is it coincidence that this morning a leak came out from the Ford negotiations, which have been signed off, that show the Ranger is returning to North America. It's still short of a confirmation from Ford, but the Ranger is almost certainly a go.
