I'm going to tell you, as many other members will, that the best lighting will come from a retrofit. This involves taking stock headlights, and modifying them to use a projector. I have made the mistake myself of trying to get better light out of the stock headlights using LED or HID bulbs. They just don't compare to a retrofit. There are a few members on the site who make retrofits. Ambiguous with Rechelon Aesthetics is one I know off the top of my head. You can spend 100+ on new headlights, and another 100+ on LED bulbs, or you can just do it right, and do it once and shell out around 600-800 and get not only a sick looking pair of headlights, but some amazing light.

Na, my neighbor had those exact same headlights. The light output was less than stock, and many members on Tacomaworld have complained of leaking/fogging. They do look cool however.

If you are looking to install LEDs into your stock headlight look here. Great LED headlights and no glare. Inexpensive and effective.

Hey OP I noticed you said your current headlights are cracked and melting. Have you contacted the dealership to see if your lights are under warranty? I just had mine replaced and upgraded to the new glass DTRL (yours are plastic) free of charge.

Oops, missed the melted part. I have DEPO headlights from Amazon. They have blackout versions too. Work great.

I actually just heard there was a recall on some lights on Tacomas but when I put in my vin it said I didn't have any active recalls but I'm still going to contact the dealer and see if they will replace them.

I may be interested in these, especially if the dealer doesn't help me out with my headlights. Even if they do I might still want to get them! Any idea how much shipping would be to Idaho? were they never installed then?

I really like the look of these the more I look at them but am worried about them not being bright enough especially here in winter conditions...

My VIN did not reflect it either. The dealership knew what was up though.

Ya I'm definitely going to try. I think I'll stop by tomorrow or call and schedule an appt or something cause I'd be surprised if they don't take care of it...Hopefully it's something they can do quick and easy!

Will they still replace 2011 TRD headlights even if the plastic hasn't melted yet? I just want new headlights and was wondering if I can use that extended warranty or whatever it is that expires next month.

I'm not sure. Contact your dealer. I imagine they will because the recall is listed as a safety issue.
