Don't notice a difference in handling or acceleration really. I don't notice road noise. Maybe because I'm coming from a civic si and the road noise was almost deafening. These are silent in comparison.

Has anyone noticed that when the entune app is installed your phone it won't automatically connect audio via Bluetooth when you start the truck? Never was able to get messages to work on the truck either.

I couldn't stand it and so I went to the local dealer and drove one. Nice truck! Drives very smooth and quiet, but I thought that about mine when it was new and stock, but maybe not quite this smooth. As most have said not impressed with the power delivery but activating the ECT does make a difference. The tech features on the display are very cool and the seats are more comfortable. Does it make me want to trade in my 2011? Ah no! but as I said it does ride nice and has good top end power. Took a few pictures. It sits as high as mine and mines lifted 2.5"

The rear springs are a big improvement with 3 primary spring standard and a functional overload spring instead of a neg arc pos like the earlier Tacomas (I ditched mine and put a 3 leaf deaver pack in instead) This should ride much better loaded.

This color replaces the Pyrite! I like mine better. But the wheels they put on look good on it

Look what I saw on the HWY! A bunch of 4x4's unusual for So Cal.

If I was in the market for a new midsize truck I would have followed the rig and got the blue one! Cheers

Sorry to hijack but I'm coming from an 2007 Si myself. I have no issues with road noise...in fact I love the car so much I am thinking of restoring it as a summer vehicle...perhaps your tires?

Nice! I pick up my DCLB OR in that color from Mtn States on Monday, can't wait! Funny how tastes differ, I really like the OR wheels. Not sure I will bother to swap out the ties right away though. If you don't mind my asking where did you swap yours and what did you get for the originals?

OP - thanks for all the updates! great pics! i'll be interested to see what you figure out about that little hill and various 4x4 modes - there are a mind boggling number of combinations in the OR between full auto, manual/auto, terrain select, CC, diff lock, 4x4 H, 4x4 L etc ...

what specific mat did you get from Amazon? the Toyota one or another brand?

Oh yeah it was the tires. Plus I bought it used and it had 18's on them as well. And I do like the car as well, but my wife has a sporty car so no need to keep it.

Got them from discount for just a tad over $800. Selling the originals for $650...maybe $600.

    If there's a difference it's very minimal.

There was a similar issue with the 2nd gen. Tacomas, same kind of noise and it was from the windshield rubber on the top. Very irritating noise but was a quick fix although it went on for years Toyota didn't do anything about it because it wasn't a safety issue.

I agree. They look great and Mike reports that they do well off road; they also seem much more puncture resistant. I'm going to attempt to have my dealer swap out the OEM tires for the 265/75/16 BFG KO2's when the TRD OR I ordered arrives.

How is it on the highway past 60mph?
    say around 70-80mph?

whats it like on on ramps? if you push it a bit on an on ramp does it feel like you're gonna loose it or no? have lots of body roll?

I haven't been able to test drive one and I'm looking into buying it but not many dealers here in canada will let you take it on the highway etc.

I've been in tacomas off road but very little on road. Mostly wondering do they handle like a big full sized truck or more like a small suv/big car?

It's very stable and predictable at higher speeds.
Takes corners very well at speeds.

It does feel smaller than a full size truck in windy conditions but still very stable.

Read whole thread. You did a great job on your write up....well done.

I am between a Limited and a Sports TRD. Our dealer will have inventory next week I am told. This will become my daily driver (retired no commute). Wife had a granny Avalon from '99 with only 90K on it. May down size it for her to a Camry/Corolla and call both good. Plan is to make the '16 Tacoma my last vehicle purchase. When I am done...son will have a bush truck. Just dickering with dealer for a set of winter tires with winter rims as a throw in. Fairly common up here but will have to pay MSRP. NO discounts this time of the year.

Close to Alaska and the Sea where a river runs west on Hwy 16.

    Take Care

    Bob
